I'm new to my fitness pal, so when it says i burned a certain amount of calories, and i earned them or something, does that mean i can eat that much more? or do I just eat what i have in my food diary?

Your exercise for the day is kind of like a free pass. If you take in 1500 calories for the day and then do the elliptical for 20 minutes and burn 250 calories that means you have only taken 1250 calories for the day. You need to eat something after you work out ( that is one of the reasons working out in the morning is best). So basically the answer to your question is yes, you can eat more after you work out if you want.......and if you stay under your calorie intake for the day :) I hope this helped.
