HMR and 30 day shred

I just started using my HRM, seems pretty accurate for my heart rate resting and everything. I looked at my calories burned and it said I burned 567 calories after the 30 day shred level 1 video. Is that unrealistically high? The circuit training on here says for the 20 minutes you burn 212.

I think when you log your circuit training on here it goes by your weight and hight, I just did the first day today and it said i only burned 185.

Giggles...I don't know if it's right but I do know that work out seems like it should be like 1500 calories instead of 212 or whatever. Your HRM is probably right on. Good Job!

What make and model do you have. I'm thinking of buying one.

    I just finished level 1 day 6 and I burned 220 calories in 27mins.
I have been between 205-235 calories since starting.

do you really get into it or just struggle through it? i burn about 250-300 with my HRM and the shred level 1 but i cannot do all the harder moves and have to modify my cardio due to my downstairs neighbors...um....not appreciating my workouts...:blushing:

I don't know your stats...weight, etc...so it is hard to say....

When I first started level one I burned almost 250...now I burn anywhere from 190-220 depending on level and how hard I push!

    I weigh 187 :)

I have the timex 5H881. And it seemed a little high to me but I was also sweating like crazy. I just won't eat as much to account for it.

I weigh 185, it said my average heart rate while doing it was around 157 I think. I was working at a good pace, only stopped to take a quick break maybe 2 times and I push through and work hard for the stuff they do. So I'm not sure...

Is this the first exercise you've used your HRM for? I've heard that Timex doubles your real calorie burn, making your burn closer to 250 if that is the case. I burn between 200 and 250 on 30Day Shred. Wondering if that is it.

According to my HRM I was burning 400 and some odd calories on level 1. I'm on level 2 now. First day -375 and today 495. I think I used way more energy today and kept up with the workout better. I'm going with my HRM for calories burn, I always do.

My sister had purchased a timex HRM and it was grossly unrealistic with calories burned. I have the Polar F6 and find it to be right on target.

I did level 2 today and I was literally dripping sweat. I used a HRM for the first time (Polar FT4) and it said I burned 269. MFP would have given me 280 for it. So I do think yours seems awfully high.

Yeah it was my first time using it today. You weigh less than me though so I'm not sure if that's a big consideration too...

I got my HRM at walmart for about $45. It works great if you are looking for a good HRM on a budget =) I got the Pro-Form TX-300. It comes with a chest strap for continuous monitoring during workouts, tracks calories burned, doubles as an alarm clock & a watch LOL, and a bunch of other extras.

It's too high, your HRM is probably also adding the calories of plain living. I have to substract those from mine... try this: wear your HRM and don't move for about ten minutes, see how many calories you burned, then divide to get how many calories you burn each minute.
Once you use the HMR for exercise, substract those calories per minute that are your resting rate and voila, you'll end up with your exercise calories!

    Hapy HRM'ing!

My heart rate stays right around there too when I do it...and we are only 2 pounds difference...I would venture to say your HRM is showing more than you are actually burning. Are you using a chest strap? With all of the movement on the shred, the watch may not be enough...I use a chest strap.

Whatever the calories burned, the important thing is that you are doing it!!! Kudos for that!!!!!!!

Wow, that's some difference! MFP "only" gives me 181 for the 20 minutes
I guess we can't really judge for you which one is correct. You could average it, or use the lowest number, to be on the safe side.

It can also depend on how much effort you are putting into the workout as well. I did it today, lazily, I might add lol and I burned 290 based on my HRM. When I do much more serious workouts the calories burned are much higher.
