Red wine anyone?

I've read that our bodies metabolize alcohol and 'food' differently. That alcohol is turned directly into fat. Does anyone have any information on the subject? I factor in red wine with my calorie count at dinner -- max 300ml. Please don't tell me to ditch the wine, because it ain't gonna happen. What I want to know is if red wine will hinder my progress for some strange metabolic reason. I really thought everything was just a matter of calories in vs. calories out.:blushing:
