So, I've been on bc for about four years now. My cycles were always like clock work, until about a year ago. My doctor changed my prescription and she said it would fix it. Well, now not only are they not regular I am having multiples ones a month. I was just wondering if it could be from the recent weight loss and new exercise I'm putting my body through that it wasn't used to or if I should go back to the doctor. Anybody know anything?

You should go back to your doc. If anything, dieting, exercise and weight loss would have made you miss periods, not have extra! Good luck!0

Ahh okay. I'd heard that it could be affected by it, but I didn't know how. Thanks!0

why did ur doctor change ur BC? sounds like the type you were on at first was working fine. If anything, I feel like you would be having less periods from exercising and eating less. It seems to me that it's just that this BC isn't working as well for you as the old one OR you could be really stressed? I'd go back to ur doctor and your old BC.
best of luck!0 -
I had the same problem at the beginning of my weight loss now it is better but I had to go see my doctor. So that is my suggestion! Hope it helps Good luck!!0

I have that problem with bc with progesterone. I will have my period every 2 weeks. I am very limited by the bc I can take because of this and other reactions to bc with progesterone. I would check with your doc about it and what hormones it contains0

I've had shorter cycles since I started exercising regularly also. 21 days instead of 28 and I had always been regular before. I think it's the exercise. Someone told me to give my body 6 months to adjust. She's a nutritionist, so not a doctor, but still...I figure our bodies will react differently to such changes. Although I was HOPING for a lack of them LOL0

I'd go back to your doctor. If it isn't your bc (as suggested above with the hormones) you may want to discuss having an ultrasound scan. It could be something a bit more serious like a fibroid or cyst. Not to say by any means that this is what it is - I'm not a doctor/nurse but, these are similar symptoms. Always worth asking for peace of mind. If anything it will rule it out. Good luck.0

Well, my two cents aren't a professional opinion, but I guess you're expecting that, rigth? I have never heard of weight loss (in about the amount that you're lost) causing people to ovulate more. Same for exercise, unless you're talking about craziness like hours a day, in which case I've heard of it going the other way (if you get so tiny that your body starts to shut down systems that are not necessary for life (like the reproductive system). SO...all that to say that I would look for other reasons than your weight loss/exercise changes. If you're not wanting to go back to the doctor, maybe you could do some on line research? Good luck!0

check your documentation for suggested weights. When I started losing I didn't notice a differance but I was well within the limits of my perscription.0

Yeah, I've heard about losing weight making periods lighter or less frequent, but not more frequent. Definitely talk to your doctor.0

Your not the only one. Just had my swtiched & I told my doctor of my work outs ect...he did tell because of the change/excersice that it would be a few months before I was back to normal. He told me not to freak and if I had any concerns to call him.
SO I asked him what he would consider a few months and he said he would estimate about 3 months for the change to take affect from teh old to the new BC.0 -
I was having the same problem! I was having two periods a month and it was ridiculous. My doc changed my pill but it didn't help. Finally I stopped taking the pill and things regulated themselves.0

It could be because of you weight loss. Your hormones can go out of wack when my make changes to our dietary and physical activities. Stress also can affect you hormones; so that too can be a factor in addition to you bc pills. I had a similar problem and I was spotting for two months. I got to the doctor and she changed it to a lighter hormone. If I would've know that long before, I wouldn't have deprived my fiancée' of you know what:) Go see you doctor!0
