Hi,
Check out the Search feature and type in HRM and you'll find some great threads with suggestions from various price ranges and features. Many have shared on this topic so you'll find much info on it.:flowerforyou:0 -
In my experience you're gonna have to drop some coin to get a good HRM. I started with a $30 Sportline from Target, thing was a piece of junk. I found a Polar FT4 on eBay for $70 and love it. It's usually $90. Good luck0

I've been wondering the same thing. I've been eyeing two different HRM's lately but not sure which is "better"
1) The New Balance Pearl model from Target $ 69.99
and
2) The Polar FT4 model from REI $90.00 (but I really don't want to spend this much lol)0 -

This is the one I've decided to get... it comes with a chest strap which is MUCH more accurate than a wrist HRM. I haven't gotten it yet, so I can't tell you from personal experience that it's good, but from my research, it's worth it for me! Good luck and you look amazing!! Great work!0 -
Depending on your defiintion of crazy money.... I had the same problem. I bought one from walmart... then started reading about Polar ones... Took one paycheck, spent $125 on the Polar FT7. Totally rocks. Way more accurate, not too uncomfortable getting used to the chest strap. I think it was worth the extra cost, and I thank those that informed me well on my selection. I know it's quite a pretty penny (I hate buying anything for myself), but it's well worth it to get the accurate readings. Good luck!0

Remember the old saying - "You get what you pay for." I too bought one from Walmart for $27. The only accurate component was my age!!! lol. It's a good thing I don't eat back the calories burned!!! I have had a Polar on my wish list for quite some time and decided to just do it. Bought a Polar FT4 from Amazon and love it and it is well worth the extra dollars!!!0

Got a Polar FT7 on Ebay for $66 (no S&H), normally $109-129. I'd look on Ebay or Amazon for the best deal. I got two of those Sportline's from Walmart but they eventually started messing up the "calories burned function." By checking Ebay or Amazon you'll likely be able to get a much higher quality HRM for much less than normal.0
