I started taking GNC Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 and 15 minutes afterwards my neck and shoulders start to feel hot like I have a sunburn and goes away about 45 mins later. I have no allergies to milk or soy.. Has this happened to anyone else?

Not me, but remember there are other things in Protein powders that may cause this. If possible try a different brand and see if it has the same effect.

I don't think it was the protein that did that.

But for future reference ditch GNC. they overprice and sell you supps you don't need.

GNC's quality is piss poor. Find a better brand. I avoid buying anything from GNC. Try amazon.com. IMO I would get some Optimum Nutrition Natural Whey Protein.

Only side effects from protein I get is the farts....

here's the list of other things in that particular product (from the GNC website)

Other Ingredients: Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Hydrolyzed Whey), Cocoa (Processed with Alkali), Natural and Artificial Flavor, Polydextrose, Lecithin, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium

could be one of many of these items that causes you to have some kind of an allergic reaction.

I'll get a natural whey protein powder and see if that helps.. it's weird because I didn't have any side effects the first couple times I took it..

GNC is "crap". I agree that ON (Optimum Nutrition) is great. I tried EAS and, while it tasted great - even with just water - it was full of stuff you don't wnat or need and it had 60 mg of cholesterol per serving. ON only has 30 mg.

My side effect? My not-wanted facial hair grows back quicker and thicker. :-(

Usually I get that sunburn feeling on the tops of my thighs if I've done leg presses. I never really thought it was from protein shakes though. I thought that that's the "burn" that they always talk about...?
  • No, the protein gives me alot of energy. I was advised to take only scoop a day instead three.
