I just started watching the biggest loser about 4 weeks ago (almost when I joined MFP). I really respect the people who are willing to put themselves out there for everyone to watch their struggles. They are willing to show what being 400 lbs looks like and how it affects their lives. I also admire the trainers. Granted they are stars now because of the show. To be so effective in helping people lose so much weight, become active and healthy is admirable. I know my bike ride today was a little more intense as I was thinking about how hard these people are working out. I was truly amazed that each of them climbed the stairs to that sky tower (1000 feet high) and then did the sky jump. Some of these people when they started looked like they could not walk around the block. Wow.

At the same time, I am happy with my 1- 2lb. weight loss every week....just plodding along and trying to develop a healthy lifestyle:tongue:

Biggest Loser is one of my favorite shows! It is always motivates me to keep working. However, I don't really like the new trainers this season, and sometimes the amounts of weight they lose in a week is a little ridiculous. I don't see how it could be healthy to be losing that much in such a short amount of time, but I love how the show has inspired so many people. It is awesome how many places have started their own Biggest Loser competitions. My gym started one and the hospital where I work. And I would loooooooooooooooove to get to work out with Bob and Jillian! Even if it was just for a day! They are so amazing.

Have you ever watched the show Heavy on A&E? It follows two people each week as they go to a fitness resort for about 6 months. I like it because the amount of weight they lose seems to be a little more realistic and also because they aren't competing for anything, they are just trying to lose weight. I Used to Be Fat on MTV is another good one!

2lbs a week is a lot healthier than the high numbers they get on biggest looser. That high of numbers puts a lot of stress and strain on your heart. Losing weight that fast, even in a healthy way does almost the same thing to your body that losing it being anorexic would.
The show is great motivation though, i love it. I wish i could do just half of what they do lol

I LOVE BL! I don't like the new trainers either. I have only watched Heavy once, while it is more realistic, it actually kinda made me mad to see these people sabotaging themselves the first chance they got. It's like they don't really want it.

Jillian is leaving, not sure about Bob. If Brett and Cara are the replacements, then this might be my last season of the show. Brett isn't bad, but Cara drives me absolutely crazy. Everything is personal with her, and she whines about it.

Thanks Runner 195, I will have to look that show up. I have missed out on a lot of these t.v. shows because I never keep track of when they are and hate watching commercials. Usually just watch movies but since we got verizon fios, I can tape shows & skip commercials. I am enjoying taping more shows.

From not watching the show last few years, I really don't know how to compare the new trainers with the old trainers. They seemed very committed to their teams. I wonder how much experience they had with working with the very obese prior. I thought Ken was kinda of whiney before he made the jump and now he is ready to be pushed and to go for it!

I started watching the show 4 seasons ago. I don't care for all the "game play" but I guess it makes the show more interesting. Jillian and Bob are the best!! I completely believe in Jillian. I started working out to 30 Day Shred before I actually knew who she was!! I've read 3 of her books and own 4 of her workout DVDs...currently using Ripped in 30. I started running because of the show and have participated in three 5ks. I figure if these guys could get out there a run I could too!! I think your 2lbs weight loss per week is fantastic!! I hope you'll stick with it!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that really doesn't like Cara. I think Brett was fired. When his last team member left..so did he. But I really didn't like either of them right from the beginning. I know I would have been really pissed if I had gone through everything those contestants do to get on that show, and then got placed with Brett and Cara. All they did was box for the first few weeks. Ugh...so don't like boxing. They always seem so shocked when Bob and Jillian's teams lose more weight. Much more well rounded when it comes to their exercise program.
I know that Jillian is leaving. I haven't heard anything about Bob. But I'm with all of you, I think the new trainers suck...in SO many ways.

Did you get the feeling Bob was mad at Brett and blamed him for Courtney not loosing weight? I was so sad to see her go. I have really gotten wrapped up in this show.

Yes I got that feeling too. Wasn't Brett's fault, she wasn't eating enough that is why she didn't lose that much. She was burning alot of calories but wasn't eating enough back. Too bad she was off the show, I was routing for her to win it!!

I started watching BL last year when I started losing weight. It helps keep me motivated. If I don't feel like working out on mon, tues, wed then I think about how guilty I'm going to feel while watching the show and it gets me to the GYM!

I love Courtney....was so sad to see her go! She lives in a town about 45 min from me in northern IN. Several times I've had the thought of going to see if I could find her family's DQ and see if any of them are there, lol! But I'm sure they're all too busy now....

They brought back Brett! I did not feel he got a fair deal with the red team. He has a lot of personal training experience compared to Cara. I thought what they all did in NZ was most amazing.

I stopped watching because it bugs me that people who are doing well get voted off the show.
