I am very anemic and have thalasymia. Basically they condradict themselves. My anemia is low iron levels. You're supposed to be a 12 or so. Well, I'm a 3. I was going to have a blood transfusion but never did. The thalasymia is where my body thinks I have to much iron and gets rid of it as well as not absorbs it. Plus, being a woman having a monthly cycle makes it worse. I have a very low immune system and get very fatigued. To the point I can sleep a good 12 hours and still be tired! Before I found out what I had my parents thought I was lazy and unmotivated. Then they thought I had mono.

I have to take iron pills for anemia but too much iron gives me heart and liver problems with the thalasymia. So I am on a roller coaster of pills.

My question is... do you think that my body is using it's energy (for lack of a better word) to balance itself out and that's why I can't lose weight? I've been at a stand still for a year! I've lost 4 lbs in a month. I know that's normal but it's only because I lowered my cals by 200 and work out every day (no rest days).

Wow - they do contradict. Have you thought of having an ablasion so you can do away with your periods? I realize you are young but if you don't plan on having more children this might be an option and it would solve part of your iron issue. I have had 2 friends go through the procedure with phenomenal results. Just a thought.

YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE DOWN AND HAVE A SERIOUS TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR. YOU HAVE ALOT OF STUFF GOING ON, AND YOU NEED TO DO WHAT'S BEST FOR YOUR BODY, WITHOUT OVER DOING IT. MAYBE THEY CAN SEND YOU TO A NUTRITIONALIST FOR SOME ADVICE. GOOD LUCK.:flowerforyou:
