I read an article today that suggested that weight loss can be helped by taking supplements of Vitamin C, D and Calcium. I have never taken vitamins regularly. What vitamins or supplements do you take and why? Thanks.

    Vitamin/mineral - why?
Woman's multi vitamin - didn't have the best diet to start, so wanted to make sure I was getting what I needed.
calcium - family history of osteoporosis
vitamin d - aide absorption of calcium
acidophiles - maintain balance (supposed to help prevent yeast infections)
    potassium - restless legs

    I think that's it. lol

I have taken vitamins my whole life...havent had the flu or any sickness since I was 7 years old...and I am 31 now. So its either my attitude towards life or the vitamins. Maybe both. =0)

Anyways just be careful about what vitamins you buy there is no FDA regulations on vitamins. So they really dont have to actually work for them to be able to sell them. Find a good multi vitamin that has a vegetable coating so it will quickly dissolve in your stomach. GNC vitamins DO NOT have this. They are expensive and junk.

First off I do not sell them...so not pushing this just saying.

Nutrilite and herbalife are probably my two favorite vitamins on the market. Pharmaceutical grade vitamins and the lot numbers can tell you what acre of ground the plants came from. They are made with care and made to work.

Women's Multivitamin - Tracking my nutrients on here showed me I was always slightly lacking
Fish Oil - Fell for the hype on it and since all my cholesterol levels are great and my doctor didn't question it I am continuing with it
Iron - just started today because it turns out I am borderline anemic

    Occasionally:
Psyllium husk tablets - I have always needed more fiber than average since I was a little girl for hard stools (mom used to sneak it in my tang). Whenever I have a painful stool I will take the husks for a while until I am better regulated again.

Generic multivitamin because my physician recommends them for everyone, and because I notice I lose more weight when I take one.

    I've always taken a One A Day Women's Multi-Vitamin.

I recently added Vitamin D, because the lab work from my last check up showed me being a little vitamin D deficient..

I take a Super B Complex (awesome for your metabolism and heart health), Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc with Vitamin D (this combo of vitamins works really well together - if you do the research, you'll find that calcium and magnesium work best together instead of individually), and I take Biotin for healthier skin/hair/nails. Otherwise, I make sure to get the rest of my vitamins through diet. If you have any concerns though, it's always best to talk to a doctor :)

I've just started taking iron pills (with vit c) a couple of weeks ago.

I've always had low levels and I've almost totally stopped eating meat, and while I do have iron rich veggies, they just dont have enough. Plus I'm still breasting feeding a bit and was starting to feel really washed out. I think they are working, my energy levels are coming back up.

Vitamins in pill form make me sick so I just take an 8oz immune boost drink everyday. I also take a chewable vitamin C. People don't think about it but most of our vitamins come from the food we eat. So if you really look at what your eating and the nutrients you might find you're getting all you need.

I take a multi-vitamin, calcium because I have always had a hard time getting enough calcium, and potassium because it helps with muscle cramps. I also drink a protein shake most days after I work out.

This is true that we get some from our food...but what a lot of people do not realize is that the RDA's have not been adjusted since the 1940's. I am pretty sure our lifestyles do not reflect even a shadow of how we lived in the 1940's. I am just saying this for information to have not trying to start anything.
