So, I've had a super stressful day, and I tend to not eat when I'm stressing. So, I have had about 300 calories today. It's almost 8pm, bedtime is soon. Should I just go find a high calorie dinner to try to make the 1200, or no?

Replies

  • d say eat something but don't stuff your self, just eat what you can take, and wait at least an hour before going to bed...
  • I would eat something, low in fat, high in protein and low carb. Sorry your day was so stressful, hopefully tomorrow will be better for you.

Not right before you go to bed, no. On the bright side, every 1500 calories you burn in excess of what you take in is one pound of fat burned. On the not-so-bright side, you're gonna be hungry tomorrow. Either sleep through it if you're not hungry or eat and stay up a little later, your call.

I will probably stay up for a few more hours at least, I have some homework I can work on.

You'll get a lot of different answers with this. It's a myth about eating right before bed. If you're worried about that, forget it. If you're hungry, eat within your calories. If not, you might try some toast and peanut butter. You might find that it'll trigger you to be hungry. If not, at least, you're not going to bed on a totally empty stomach.

Just don't do this too often. ;)

    Good luck!

I don't have any scientific reason or nutritional knowledge that makes me say this, just my own self, but I would eat something with some protein in it to hold you over and call it a day. Otherwise, if it were me, I'd wake up in the middle of the night starving (leading to 3 am kitchen raids for anything I could shove in my mouth!)

    Tomorrow is another day!
  • I would eat something, even a little something, so that you don't wake up in the morning (or, even worse, middle of the night) super hungry. I try not to go to bed hungry because I get migraines triggered by severe hunger, so waking up with one of those doesn't start the day off right either. Maybe a pb&j or a bowl of cereal?

I'm hungry to the point of being sort of nauseated. Just dealing with not wanting to cook and nothing looks particularly tasty. Maybe I'll just go out and find something. I personally haven't noticed a difference with eating before bed or not.

I had the exact same day! I ate a 500 calorie meal just now, but that's going to be it because it's 11pm here... Some days it's just inevitable

Unless eating before bed causes you to not sleep well, then I wouldn't eat. Otherwise, eat something. You're not going to gain by eating before bed. Sometimes, I eat right up to the second I crawl in bed.

If you go out to get something, I caution you on sodium and higher calories/carbs/fat...everything. lol

If you're hungry then eat. Personally I would eat something to keep myself from binging later.

Protein shakes are super awesome when you're not particularly hungry but need quality calories. Protein powder, greek yogurt, almond milk & some fresh fruit. YUM

Or a handful of almonds is an easy way to get some calories...

I tend not to worry about eating before bedtime. I just ate some fresh fruit and now I'm about to crawl into bed. Meh

My hubby wanted to go out, so we went to Denny's and I had half of their Ultimate Skillet with no sausage and a half a smoothie. I'll probably have the other half for breakfast tomorrow. I managed to be under on sodium, carbs, and fat for today. Woohoo!
