I am wondering if there is a calorie burn/count for swimming with kids or doing active childcare?

You're gonna be around kids and you're wondering if you can burn calories? lol....ummmmmm...YEAH!!!!
  • Your best bet would be to get a HRM or just log it in as something similar.

If it's a regular mostly daily thing, then you should just set your activity level to active or very active. MFP will fix the calorie deficit for you.

When I "swim" with my two-year old I count it as "Leisurely swimming" as long as I'm moving and splashing along with her. When we do really active things like chase each other around the park/playground I log it as "playing Frisbee". May not be exactly the right number of calories calculated but I figure it's close enough.
  • I know I'm going to burn calories when I'm taking care of children I was just wondering how much....A number that I could give the exercise tool so I could add it to the list..

Thank you all for your great thoughts! I will look into some of them.
