So first off. This is completely incorrect! Think of your body like a car. Its needs fuel. Your fuel is a net of 1200 calories. So wehn you exercise you use more fuel. If you are consistantly netting below 1200 calories a day it will actually slow your weightloss. Its not healthy. You may lose weight at first but then you will plateau. It is recommended to eat about 50 to 70 percent of your workout calories within 15 to 45 minutes of exercising. Preferably something easy to digest like a drink. I prefer milk and a whey protein drink that I mix myself. (I use jillian micheals why protein, gets me my chocolate fix) there are tons of threads about this. I would search for some. But big picture make sure your net is at least 1200 calories per day. Feel free to add me if you like. I hope this clears it up.

Here are some threads that explain how MFP works (yes, it's designed for you to eat them and still lose weight). Good luck to you!

Your reply is very accurate, clear and percise. I too was confused about this in the beginning. Only after reading a couple threads on MFP did it all come together.

It really depends on how much fat your body is carrying right now. 50lbs ago I ate 1200 calories a day and exercised, I did not eat those calories back and lost weight at about 1.5lbs per week. Now that I am at a healthy weight range this is no longer working for me.
