I've gotten really tired of the razor bumps and crappy shaves I get from disposable razors.
Finally did a little reading and ordered a traditional safety razor with double edge blades.
Pretty excited and wondering if anyone else still shaves the old way?

  • There's a chain of shops called Floyd's 99... they do traditional barbershop straight razor shaves. I want my honey to get one for the wedding next summer.

My ex-boyfriend did. After he shaved his skin was nice and soft. I loved it.

Awesome. I figure I'm gonna look rough for a week or two while learning.
But after that it'll be nice to not have razor burn constantly.
  • Gillette Fusion with That Men 3 in 1 body wash for men (shampoo, shave, soap) I use that, and its amazing. I shave everything as well.

I started to use Target's Every Man Jack's shaving cream. I learned that creams work best because foams rely on bubbles which are ineffective (paraphrased and probably incorrect). Anyway...it works great.

I've tried the fusion and hydro. They work well, but it gets expensive spending so much on new ones.
I can get double edge razors for like 15 cents a pop. Hoping this turns out cheaper in the long run.

Definately not using a traditional razor on my other body parts tho. Sticking with 3 blades for manscaping.

I still use the original fusion...a little cheaper than the vibrating ones. Honestly those spook me. I am not the brightest in the morning and I am literally "deathly" afraid I will manage to saw into my jugular with the vibrating one.

agreed. I used it once. I'm always iffy about shaving around my adams apple. It sticks out a lot.

My razors last me about 2 weeks. So I buy an 8 pack for 25-26 I have razors for 16 weeks! So I go 4 months with out buying razors. Roughly 6 bucks a month. Im a cheapo too, but its quality over quantity my man. I shave my face everyday and my body about every 2 days.

Just make sure your cleaning the blade properly.
Have a cup of water and rinse it after every stroke.
    Shave with hot water.
Dipping your razor in minteral oil with preserve the blades
Storeing the blade in a 100% dry room tempeture area

Do that man and I guarantee you that your blades will last you 10-14 days!

Yes, it will look nice. He also used some shaving cream (in a plastic container with a twist off lid, don't remember what is was) and a badger fur brush to whip it up onto his face. Pretty old fashioned, but wonderful.
