How to read a digital scale

Hello & Happy Friday to All,

I have a question regarding the digital scales. How do you read the tenths of a pound. In other words if you weigh 120.4 or 120.6
what does these equate to. How do you read them. Example if you weigh 130.4--how much to lose to weigh, say, 129 lbs>
I know my question may seem silly. But, I am curious and do not know?
Thanks

I would say...round up. That's always the best bet. I do that even with calories. Go with the lower numbers for exercise though.

It's like a decimal so in order to weigh 129 lbs you would need to lose 1 and 4 tenths or almost 1 and 1/2 pound. Does that help?

(because .5 would be 1/2. .33 would be one third. .75 is 3/4....think of it like change or percents).

you can enter your weight to one decimal place into MFP anyways :)

Each tenth (0.1) of a pound is a little over one and a half ounces (1.6 ounces to be exact).

So, to weigh 129 from 130.4 you need to lose 1.4 pounds which is about 1 pound 6 ounces.

Personally, when I record my weight, I round up or down to the nearest pound.

If you weigh 130 and 4/10 of a pound, you would need to lose 1 4/10 pound (1.4) to weigh 129

There are 10 tenths in a pound. The digital scale just gives you a more accurate reading instead of rounding up or down or having you guess where the line on an old type scale is.

If you weigh 120.4, that is almost 120 and a half pounds which would be 120.5

There are 10 tenths in a pound. So if you weigh 130.4 pounds, that means you need to lose 1.4 pounds to get to 129. [ -.4 would bring you to 130; then -1 pound takes you to 129. Total of 1.4 pounds]
  • Me personaly, I dont read the tenths if I weigh 220.8 or 220.1 i put it down as 221, i wont record as 220 till I am 220 to 219.1. Thats what works for me
