I am only able to do x amount of regular push ups before I have to go to my knees...

By doing knee push ups, am I still getting benefits?

As long as you are still maintaining proper form, yes.

I'd imagine that any pushup is still better then no pushup at all. :D

But to better answer your question: http://www.realjock.com/article/79/

Yes, it seems that they are effective too.

Definitely. You're still working your upper body. Regular pushups also work your core. I started out only being able to do "girl pushups" in my boot camp class. Now I do "boy pushups" - HOOAH! :)

according to the 100 pushup challenge, that is an alternate pushup that is acceptable. just do the right techneque
  • absolutely! (with proper form anyway. keep everything tight!)

yes make sure your knees, hips and shoulders form a straight line and these will help you to increase the amount of full push ups you can do.

Definitely! You're still working your upper body as long as your form is good, just with less weight. In time you'll be able to do more full ones.

if it is more than what you were doing before, YES!
Challenge yourself to one MORE full pushup each time and you will work up!
If it is challenging... it is effective.
    And yes, proper form-always!

Yep, you are. :) Also, try pushups in a doorway. I do that from time to time when my knees hurt.

I currently am only doing the knee pushups also. I hope to eventually get to the full pushups, but for now, I am noticing an improvement in my arm strength, just from these! :) Keep up the good work!
