Hiya, I'm extremely new to the site, literally joined within the hour!
I'm basically looking for advice about to manage my food, how to work out your calories burnt with specific exercise (eg. walking 30 mins = ? cals) and how to get that motivation back.
I know what I need to do and why I need to do it, but for some reason I seem to be missing that element of getting yourself into gear...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated

It depends on the speed.
Best thing to do is go the exercise portion of your diary and look at the different speeds.
When im pacing for distance I run about 7 to 8 MPH. I usually burn about 900+ calories in an hour.
I never check my calories when i'm sprinting so I don't know.0 -
:flowerforyou: Welcome! My best advice is to think in long-term health terms and to not give up even if slip up.
Also, purchase a heart rate monitor (if you don't already have one) to best track your calorie burn during workouts.

Hello everyone! I just joined the site about 10 min ago. I'm a Jazzercise instructor, but I struggle with maintaining my weight. During the day, I have a desk job and there's some traveling involved which makes portion control very, very, very difficult. When I'm traveling my co-workers always want to go out to eat. I'm always pushing to stay at a Residence Inn, so I can shop for my own groceries and cook in my room to better manage my food intake. It's a constant struggle. I'm only teaching aerobics once or twice a week and if I'm traveling I miss my classes. Bummer!!! Yesterday, after one of my Jazzercise classes, I shared my story with my students and one of them introduced me to this website. I just had to check it out. Thankfully, I did and so far so good. I've entered my food information and surprisingly I'm right on track. HOWEVER - the smack in the face was when I calculated my BMI which was 25.7 which is slightly over the healthy range. I'm going to try not to get discouraged and use this as motivation. I'll keep on blogging, because by the looks of it I am not alone in this battle. Wish me luck! God bless!0

Hi everyone! I just joined the site a few days ago. While I have been exercising regularly, I haven't been getting the results I want due to nutrition, life in general or whatever other excuse I can make. I'm going to focus on nutrition. Not a quick fix diet, but the way I want my diet to be from now on. My biggest struggle will be not eating late, as I work late hours most of the week. My plan is to journal, on MFP of course, and to prepare/plan my meals weekly. I'm a huge fan of convenience but do not want pre-packaged foods. Any advice on this?
Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to change.0
