Ok MFP peeps! A friend is giving me the Insanity workout set, and I am SO EXCITED TO USE IT! I was just wondering if its any good? Fast reuslts? Or hard to follow? I know its a home work out program, I'm just hoping that since it is at home that I don't half a** it and not get proper results. Suggestions or Input?

I started Insanity a little over a week ago. It's definitely hard but I love it. I haven't seen any physical results yet but there is no way I won't. I would spend 2 hours at the gym and not be as exhausted/sore as I am after 40 mins of Insanity. I don't think it is hard to follow but by the end I have a hard time keeping up. Hopefully that changes as I get stronger. Can't wait to hear what you think! Good luck!

If you have no problems with knees or joints- go for it! make sure you drink plenty of fluids, rest when you need to despite how much you want to push yourself, get a Heart Rate Monitor (recommended chest strap) and go for it....It's definitely INSANE
  • Geeesh!! Sounds crazy! I'm super excited! I'm thinking about starting a blog from day 1 and recording my progress. I really hope it doesn't let me down.

I am starting in once I move home for the summer! My apartment doesn't allow for much room to move!

I had a friend lose 20lbs on it...and I hope I can do the same!
  • I did the whole Insanity program, only missing like 1 workout the entire time, and I didn't see any results. True, I didn't follow their diet plan, but that's because I can't eat 5 super structured meals a day that add up to less than 2000 cals. But yeah, I didn't seem to get toned or anything from it. My endurance might have increased, but not much, considering that by the end I was still just as beat up from the month 2 workouts as when I started them. So, I would just say to be optimistic about it, but realistic as well.

PS - to be fair, I didn't have a ton of weight to lose, and for most of month 2 I was fighting a nasty staph infection and was on some pretty gross antibiotics. So maybe I'm an outlier.

You will love it and hate it all at the same time!! I've been doing it for 3 weeks now...the workouts are hard at first, but they get (slightly) easier after a while. I've only lost 1 lb per week since starting...other people have said they were able to lose up to 4lbs a week. It's such an intense workout, but your body will love you for it :)

I did insanity after doing P90X and WOW the fat melted off like hot candle wax just like he said. I went from 151 pounds to 121 with P90X and Insanity. Worth every $
  • Well guys, I've been doing it for a week now and have literally lost at least 1 pound PER DAY! it is very intense, and at time I have to modify the exercise, but totally worth the $$$. EVERY PENNY! I will post progress pics after 1 month :))))

I love it. Take your measurements before you start. Your weight might not change as fast as you want it to but your measurements will. Also make sure you have a good pair of cross trainers so you don't hurt yourself.

Seems so wrong to do so much work for nothing, but I will say it probably is the diet plan. I eat 5 meals a day and stay at 1500 calories so it can be done but this is probably why you didnt' get results you wanted.

You are the first person I've seen on here not get results but its probably just the diet. It would be almost impossible to not get results if you followed the diet plan and gave it your all every work out.

I can't believe I didn't even think to do that!!!!! Stupid me! LOL! Will do asap :) thanks

Make sure you take some undie pics. Even if no one sees them but you. Our eyes deceive us ALOT especially when we're looking in a mirror.

You can develop a problem with yeast overgrowth when on antibiotics that you don't even realize. This can make the weight hang on as well. That alone could have effected your progress.

I didn't have much weight to lose when I started Insanity. I have 1 week left on the program and have gained weight about 4lbs. However, I've totally lost inches I didn't know I even still had to lose. Did you measure first? Plus, I run as well and I'm faster with a greater endurance. My guess is you had results you didn't realize you had, it would be close to impossible to do the program perfectly with no changes IMO.

I would say it works. I've never really done it myself but I've seen a lot of success stories.

I did it before and absolutely loved it. I was in the best shape of my life when I got done. I started out when I was in pretty good shape as well, but I definitely was more toned and firm.

The thing with INSANITY is you have to stick with it. I felt like during month one I didn't see a TON of change, granted it was taking place in my body (the fit tests kept me motivated) but I didn't lose much weight. However, month two brought a lot of change. I dropped pounds, saw a lot more definition, and felt a lot stronger/faster. I could also go running at higher speeds and had more endurance. Month one is basically getting you into shape for month two-because month two really, really is INSANE!

Stick with it and it will pay off!! :)
