Any wine drinkers?

I've had an opened bottle of moscato (half full with a tin foil cover) in my fridge now since mid-february. I'm not a HUGE wine fan so I'm not sure how long it lasts, etc, but I do love moscato.

Can you tell me would this wine still be ok, or should I toss it?

Wine only last 2 days, 3 at max, once it is opened. if you use the caps that removes the air out of it you can make it last up to 5 days.

sweet white wine lasts longer, but only good for about 2 weeks max once opened.... red wine can turn within a week

Who ever has left over wine? LOL

I'd toss it or take a small taste and maybe cook with it.

You won't get sick from it. It's got a fairly high sugar content and will last longer than a lot of wines in the fridge but not for months and months. You could try a sip. Some people aren't as sensitive to the aging of wines as other. Also, I've seen a few bottles of sweet wine "sherry" after being ignored, although never after uncorking.

Taste is a very individual thing, however. Don't let anyone else's tastes govern what you enjoy. Try it and see.

agree on this. Any old wine is good for cooking but I wouldn't drink it for pleasure.

I agree you should taste it, even smelling it should tell you if it's still a keeper or not, my guess is NOT. I love wine! I mostly drink whites but love a good red too! I say go buy another bottle!:drinker:

LOL I feel amused as I NEVER let the wine in the house last longer then a couple days if opened... Especially if its a good bottle of Merlot! This is very interesting... and I shall keep this is mind. Is it bad to keep low quality white wine in a glass bottle with a pouring topper that we use for cooking long? I don't want us to get sick but we've only used it in making hamburgers and chicken and other meat stuff. Just curious. :)

moscato is a bit sweet for cooking (vs. say, a sauv blanc) unless you are macerating berries or something for dessert . and a good rule of thumb is to avoid cooking with a wine that you would not enjoy drinkng. as flavors concentrate during cooking any off taste will be noticible and could ruin your lovely meal.
