I LOVE Red Lobster and my friend is taking me to dinner this evening so I'm super excited :) Any ideas of somewhat healthy food I can get while there? I already went over my calories yesterday so I'm trying to not have a repeat again today! Thanks!

seafood is pretty good for you. it isn't until you soak it in butter that it starts becoming kinda shady.
  • R.I.P cheese biscuits.

You can look at the site and check out the nutritional values. I'm sure they have the info on there. I've only been there once it was a long while ago and I have no clue what I had lol.

I know..it's going to be so hard to not get the Shrimp Scampi. So yummy with all that butter!

Try the Wood Grilled items. Your best bet, though, is to check their web site. IIRC, they have a neat little app where you can choose your menu items and it'll give you the nutritional values. Plan in advance so you know exactly where you'll stand for the rest of the day.

Just stay away from "fried" and those absolutely WONDERFUL, drooliscious biscuits and you'll do fine!!

crab legs (as long as they are steamed or boiled in water with no added oil or butter)! Just don't use the melted butter, squeeze some lomon on it and add a dash of pepper instead. And if you get veggies ask for no butter, most restaurants sautee in butter, or even if they are steamed, they come out of the steamer and get a laddle of melted butter on them.

grilled, grilled, and more grilled. stay away from the cheddar biscuits and the dressing drenched salad. But honestly Red Lobster is one of the better choices for eating out.

scallops, shrimp, fish, just get it grilled, blackened broiled, (not in butter) and NOT FRIED. go on line and see if RL has the menu and nut. info online.

    Have fun and enjoy.!

I just went to the website and they actually have a calculator so you can add up your meal before going and it tells you all of the calories :) I'm excited!

I ate there the other night. The stuffed tilapia with broccoli they have on special right now was very good and less than 500 cals. You can check out their website for more nutritional info.

Definitely check their website for nutritional values and decide ahead of time what you want to order. They have a Light House menu with options under 500 calories. When I go I usually get a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side, grilled shrimp and broccoli. However, scampi is one of my all time favorites and the nutritional values are suprisingly not as bad as I figured they would be. And of course, I always allow enough calories for one of their biscuits.

hey its better to use moderation than to deprive yourself and end up binging because you can't stop thinking about what you aren't allowed to have! LOL. I went out last night, and I love the bread at the place we went... I allowed myself to cut one in half, and have that. It worked, I felt satisfied with that half, and was able to not have more :)

If it were me...I wouldn't count. I love Red Lobster and don't go very often so it's a treat when I go. I wouldn't want to ruin it counting and feeling bad. However, as mentioned before, seafood is pretty good for you. A 4 oz mahi mahi filet seasoned with pepper is 98 calories. Not bad at all. I would say just pay attention to sides. Get a salad or veggies (no butter or salt like they said above). I can't say no to cheese biscuits though lol

Good luck! I'm jealous...the closest Red Lobster to me is 45 minutes away... lol

ANd that's cool you can calculate before you go!

If you look at a restaurant's web site for nutritional info, just be aware of serving sizes!! Most restaurants post info per serving, but the entree is 2 servings. Sneaky!

Okay I'm really surprised by how low the calories are in what I normally get..the sodium is through the roof but that's expected. I'm trying to hold off on eating a lot before we go so I can eat eat eat without feeling bad this evening!

Careful about what you eat. There are a lot of things there that "look" good for you but definitely are not. If you choose to go with crab or lobster, do not accept the butter to dip it in, they are both pretty tasty without it.

STAY AWAY from the little biscuits they put on the table they are WAY more than you think!!!
    Varies between 150 - 160 calories each
Cheddar Bay Biscuit (each) 150-160 cals 8 grams of fat 2.5 g saturated fat 350 mg of sodium 16 Carbs

Check the nutritional info before you go. Use the site below, decide ahead of time what your going to eat, and stick to it! Don't forget to add softdrinks or alcohol if you so desire.

    First and foremost ENJOY :)

We definitely won't be getting a starter and we definitely will only be drinking water (we're both dieting).

I just went there last night and you can do fairly well eating healthy. I researched the web site before I went.

    the best choices are -

soup- manhattan clam chower, 80 calories a cup
appetizer- shrimp cocktail or seafood stuffed mushrooms,
if sharing with one other person these come in at about 110 calories for half
garden salad with light red wine vinegrette dressing is about 140 calories
I ordered fish off the fresh catch of the day menu, the half portion of halbut was 180 calories
the pilaf is also 180 calories so eat half
and I ordered the asparagus which is 90 calories or the broccoli is an option at 60 calories
if you order unsweetned ice tea or light lemonade those are both calories free
I didnt get any alcohol to drink too expensive and too many calories,
there is nothing on the menu you can have for dessert even if shared sorry,
we stopped for fat free sugar free yogurt cones later in the evening.
lobster tail which I didnt have is only 90 calories.
    enjoy.
