How many of you all use kitchen scales? Although most of my food choices are measureable, should I weight my meats? I limit myself to one serving of meat. Hotwings are my weakness, I purchased some oven roasted wings and the serving size was 3 oz . Since I didn't have a kitchen scale I ate 4, that was probably more than 3 oz. MFP help a sister out!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks.

I weigh almost everything with my scale. I was so surprised by how off my calculations were on the weights of food! This is the one that I have.

My kitchen scale is my best friend when I'm counting calories or carbs. I find that I completely mis-guess food portions. It's also really handy to pre-package single serving portions of some foods. I use those little snack sized baggies for single servings of a lot of foods, but especially treats like almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc. This way, I can grab one or two, throw them in my purse and when I eat one I know exactly what I'm getting and can easily log it. It also stops me from buying junk out of the vending machine or while standing in line at the store since I know I already have something to snack on available. That not only saves me calories, it saves me $$.

I weighed things a lot more when I got started, now I can eyeball a piece of chicken or fish and have it with a few grams of 4 ounces. But I still manage to find a reason to use my scale almost every day. Measuring cups too. I can pull out a scoop of flour and it's almost exactly a cup every single time. But I don't trust myself to only pour a cup of Kashi into the bowl unless I measure it. :)

I agree with the other ladies, weighing things help keep you accountable to what you are actually eating! my favorit thing to eat as a snack is rasin and nut trail mix. I never knew how many servings i ate till i got my scale. when i weight the trail mix and compared it to the amount that I would normally pore in a bowl I was astounded at how many calories i was eating! i was eating at least 3 times the serving on the box!

you can get a inexpensive one from target or walmart. search around!

I also weigh nearly everything. It's amazing how different the weight and the cup measure can be, especially for irregularly shaped items like cereal, pasta, nuts, etc.

You won't regret buying a scale! I have this one and love it: http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Digital-Kitchen-Silver/dp/B001N07KUE/ref=pd_sim_hpc_2

My scale is what got me to where I am! I wouldn't have lost nearly as much weight without it. I weigh everything - how else are you going to know what a "serving" of meat is? Densities vary widely, so 1 "cup" of a certain food may be taken in many different ways. Weight doesn't lie - there's no wiggle room!
