    Hi!

Do what you enjoy. If you like dancing, dance around the house.

If you like walking, go for a walk. Whatever you enjoy doing is usually the thing that will get you motivated.

I love listening to music while on the eliptical machine, and the way my body feels after working out, motivates me.

It is always hard to start anything, but once you are doing it, you get into the flow and really find you will enjoy it and miss it when you don't do it.

    Workouts should be fun,

Work out one time, enter your calories under exercise and see the "extra" calories that you earn. That motivates me on my hard days.....GL.

Experiment to find something you love.

But. . . there will still be days that you don't want to do it. Often the motivation comes only after you've started exercising! Then, if you push hard enough, you'll get the endorphins going and that is miraculous!
Whenever I don't want to exercise (which is still regularly) I remind myself how great I feel when I'm finished.

I have just found this site. 2008 is the year for me, not my children husband or job, but me!!! I know that sounds selfish but I am waiting to hear someone say wow you look great. I thought I was eating well till I cam here and see my calories are killing me. I exercise about 6 times a week and it feels good, my motivation... waiting for that first compliment. I want to lose 25 pounds and be where I can maintain. Better start eating a lot more salads. I also gave up diet soda, not sure if that is worth it or not. I hope to find motivation just by hearing others are doing it.
  • I agree it is very hard to stay motivated to exercise, but it usually passes and I hate to say this but becomes enjoyable and becomes part of who you are. It is tough starting out but a little sacrifice will go a very long way. I wish you the best of luck.

For me, if I can just get the right clothes on, I'm going to follow through. I hate digging for sports bras & shorts, so if I do, I'm gonna give it my all. Besides, the feeling after is sooooo worth it! Keep a visible diary of how you feel after a workout; key words to motivate in the future.
