Do you follow a diet, or just track and diet?

I am just wondering do most of you on here follow a specific diet (like weight watchers, low carb, etc), or do you just have calorie/fat/etc limits?
If you just count cals and whatnot, do you space them out a certain way?

i eat what i want but if one meal has a larger amount of calories then i compensate for that by having a much lighter lunch or breakfast or no snacks etc. and try to make sure i can excercise each day so i can try even out each meal.0

I just track my calorie intake everyday. Along with exercise.0

I'm on here for maintainence now, and I just track calories. Since I'm working out, I like to be sure I'm getting enough protein and fiber as well. I try to stay low carb, but if I go over I don't stress it.0

I did WW in the past, it worked until I stopped going to the meetings. I did Atkins back when the guy was alive, but I was a vegetarian then and that was a disaster waiting to happen.
my current goals are 1400-1500 calories/day, of which 40-50 grams of fat, 100g of protein and the rest carbs. I watch the sodium levels too, but following the parameters, I haven't had an issue with going over. I eat some, but not all of my exercise calories back. I always drink protein after a workout, with a meal shortly after.0 -
I eat whatever I want, within reason of course, and log and track here on MFP along with exercise. Ideally try to keep my carbs, sugars and fat in check so this site is tremendously helpful with that!0

family history of diabetes, heart problems, arthritis and osteoporsis. I watch my calories because I getting down to a healthy weight is important on all of these fronts.
But I watch Sat Fat, Trans fats, Sugar and Calcium.
I refuse to do low-fat or low-carb nonsense.
Just try and remember 1/2 plate veggies 1/4 protein and 1/4 starch (complex carb)0 -
I eat what I eat try to keep it ckean (not going good lol) but mostly try to stay within my maintainance cals and mostly my nutrients. Like carbs fat protein sugar sodium.0

I have replaed some things, like white bread for whole grain wheat with flax, I eat a ton of chicken, fish and upped my veggie intake. I get lower calorie things like mayo and use I can't believe its not butter. I also use real egg substitute. I gave up soda and fast food and stay away from sweets as much as possible but try to find lower calorie subs for those cravings. I also now do poretion control. BUT if I want it I have it. Just less and less often. And then there is the excercise. Gotta have it! Lets me eat more! LOL0

I see 'diets' as an ineffective way to lose weight. Unless it's a diet plan you can follow the rest of your life, you'll have a hard time keeping the weight off once you lose it. My main focus is learning how to eat better and tracking what goes in to help me make better choices.
As far as spacing, I try to keep all snacks under 100 cals, and then the three 'meals' I try to make an even split of the remaining calories. Sometimes, if I know we're having something particularly 'bad' for dinner, I'll make sure to keep all of my other meals pretty light so I don't throw myself off with it.0 -
No 'diets' here, I think that the word 'diet' implies that it is temporary and I am making a lifestyle change. I try to make healthy choices and I exercise regularly. I don't limit what I am allowed to have and not have, because for me that isn't a permanent change. I still eat the foods I like, I just do it in moderation and not as often as I used to. I think when you deprive yourself of foods that you want you are setting yourself up to fail or go on a binge. If I know I am going to be going out to dinner or going out drinking I try to budget it to fit into my calories for the day and may try to work out a little harder. Basically I don't make any changes that I'm not willing to stick with forever.0

No formal "diet," just changing the way that I eat in general. I do try to follow the goals I have on MFP though; calories first priority (staying near or under), fats and sodium and carbs second (staying near or under), and then protein and fiber (meeting the minimum, hopefully more). But trying to achieve these goals in a way that I can maintain for life, i.e. not cutting out any thing I can't live without (::ahem::, pizza, beer), just exercising more and eating less.0

I eat the same as I always did, but I manage portions much better with the calorie system. I figure one day I will be at goal and I'm just not the kind of person who believes carrots are a snack. BUT the calorie counting helps me realize that 12 chips ARE a snack, not a 600 gram bag.0
