Hunger?

Hi All
I feel stupid posting this and have put it off for a few days now but I was hoping others might have had the same experience.

I've been at this for about 100 days or something and have lost well!
I'm really pleased.
I am not far from ideal weight but need to tone and lose a bit more fat.
Anyway... for the last 3 or 4 days I've been really hungry in the evenings and through the night to the point where I can't ignore it.

I can't figure out if it IS actually hunger or not.
Does this make sense?

I am drinking water and spreading meals out.
I'm not working out more than usual - in fact probably less due to having less energy lately.

I've upped my calories and lowered my weekly goal to see if it helps but no

I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts.
Is it hunger?
Drinking water makes no difference.
It's not stomach muscles - is it? And not hunger at all?

Sorry - I feel really stupid posting this but it's doing my head in now!

Thanks for reading this far.
xx

    Two things.
!.) Sugar. A high sugar intake can bring you up and then crash you hard. Even at night. Though the night burning is your body using up your fat reserves. Make sure you are eating enough and not skimping too much! When I feel the burn at night, Im comforted by it Because I know even in my sleep the fat is burning.

2.) Maybe you could be pregnant? Just a thought! I was always super tired and hungery the first 1-4 weeks.

I get the same thing every once in a while. I get the feeling like I'm hungry in my stomach so I'll eat but then it doesn't touch the feeling. I don't know why we get the feeling but I just try to ignore it as much as possible unless my stomach actually starts to growl then I'll eat. I'd like to know if there is a legitimate reason for this feeling too if anybody knows. THANKS!

First off, I would track protein and sodium instead of cholesterol and saturated fats. Dietary cholesterol has no impact on your blood cholesterol, in fact, most of the time it isn't even fully digested. So there's no need to worry about that. Saturated fats are what gets turned into blood cholesterol. You do need to watch them, but it's easy to keep it low if you're eating right. Sodium causes water retention and protein helps keep you feeling full.

In general, you should be eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables (which I'm not seeing a whole lot of in your food diary), whole grains, lean meats and some low fat dairy. You need to cut out processed foods, refined sugar and artificial sweeteners, all of which are bad for you in one way or another. When you're eating whole foods you should feel more satisfied after eating and shouldn't be hungry soon after meals.

    OK - Will do. :O)
My food this last week has been a bit off as I'm not at work but I do need to add more veg and fruit.

    Thank you! :O)

maybe you need some more complex carbohydrates - foods that release their sugar more slowly. I find what hits the spot is a piece of wholemeal toast with (thin layer) peanut butter or a banana as a snack

like yesterday i was feeling really unsatified with my lunch, and it wasn't until i had a slice of wholemeal toast that my stomach stopped rumbling!

I'm ALWAYS hungry at night - I've learned to deal with it. Make the most amount sense for me just based on the number of hours I go without a meal. I try not to even snack after dinner, and seeing as how we have an early dinner around 5:30 most nights, and I don't go to bed until 11 at the earliest, its the only 5.5 hr gap in the day without a meal. If its bad, I'll grab a rice cake, and go to bed early. Do I LOVE breakfast now!

    Thanks everyone.
I've changed what I'm tracking and I see more red!
Time to look at my diet again.

Thanks for your time! Miss Tom ;o)
  • maybe it's because you've been exercising less. im never hungry when i finish exercising and if i exercise just before a meal i won't eat as much.

you might also be eating too many empty calories? check your fiber and protein intake - if it's low (or even if it's not) try eating higher protein food like cottage cheese and higher fiber food like all-bran cereal.]

    hope it helps! good luck!

I have experieced this too. I'll drink a glass of water first - some times if works. If not, then I'll have some grapes or handful of nuts, just something small. If the water doesn't work, and this doesn't work, then I know I did extra that day and am ok with that. As long as it doesn't happen often I wouldn't worry about it.

    Good luck!

I've changed my exercise routine today so hopefully I'll be getting more exercise again.
I think the gym got a bit stale so I've been using different machines and been for a swim today.

    Really appreciate the replies.
