Personally I think 50 pounds in just a bit over 3 months is a bit unrealistic. However, eating about 50% veggies in your day, and getting in whole grains, lots of lean proteins, healthy oils, and of course tons of water will get you started. Also, if you get in lots of exercise you'll find you'll tighten up and look & feel stronger and leaner than by diet alone.

That's very ambitious. A more realistic goal would be 25-30 pounds gone by August 1. That would be about 2 lbs a week, which seems to be the most that the experts recommend for healthy weight loss that stays off.

    Good luck!

That's only 16 weeks - MFP sets you up to lose about a pound a week, so you'd be trying to almost triple that. They may do that kind of thing on The Biggest Loser, but that's not practical or safe without the kind of supervision they get on that show. Not to mention it's not realistic and doesn't help you change your lifestyle for the long term. People who seem to succeed on here look at it as a change in the way they view/use food in their lives. To do it just to meet a "number" goal, I think, will lead to failure later. It's about how you look, how you feel, how things fit. The scale cannot be the only measure, especially because it will fluxuate as you lose fat, gain muscle, how much water you retain from week to week, etc.

Dont be put down by anyone telling you its unrealistic. My goal right now is at least 150 by november I need to lose 60lbs and i only have 5 or 6 months to do it. but.. in the last month or two i've managed to lose 25lbs only 14 have logged on here because of when I started doing this

I go to the gym 5-6 times a week for at least an hour,
I eat lower calories which i wouldn't really reccommend but ... I have taken in protein drinks *special k yummy* and swiched to alternatives that are better and have luna bars, and healthy choice frozen meals instead of going out to lunch or whathave you...

i switched my milk on my cereal to so delicious vanilla coconut milk too ... idk its been working for me i would just maybe try to find some alternatives and eat out less if you do.

hungry girl 300 under 300 calories is an awesome cookbook... btw...

I've lost 28 in 2 months working out 6 days a week busting my *kitten* and eating healthy. My daughters birthday is august 20th. It's just one of my goals I set. It's completely doable with hard work

then you can probably achieve it.. it really is just about working out and eating right. Drink a ton of water too. this girl at work says cold water is best ... idk cuz your body has to warm it it takes longer to digest or soemthing lol just drink water lots of water. and just keep doing what you're doing.. i'm sure you'll get damn close.

I lost 50 pounds... it was a little over 3 months but I also had a few weeks where I "gave up" and a few weeks with gains as I got started. I'm not saying it was easy... but I don't know that the first 40 were "hard." But then, I also started at a high weight. So, 40 pounds to me, may be a little like 5 pounds to someone else.

The realistic part may come in with how much you weigh as you start, what your habits are like now, how much you can and will put into it, etc.

Everyone talks about that a healthy way to lose weight is 1-2 pounds a week... and I think that's a good goal. However, I have also heard that losing 1% of your body weight per week can be a healthy goal. So, if you weigh 300, then losing 3# a week is a good number.

As for hints... water is important for me. Again to what you weigh -- most people have heard 8 glasses of water per day, but if you are heavier then they say to drink 1 ounce of water for ever 2 pounds of weight. So, again, if you weigh 300, then drink at least 150 ounces of water (or what would be about 18 glasses). That can seem like a lot... but, I figure that if I just keep drinking then at least I feel full.

Anyway... this is just what I've heard and been told. Of course, you can find anything these days... but these have been repeated and seemed to be from reliable sources. LOL.

My best advice is to say Good Luck, Stay Positive (stress increases our fat storage), Get enough water and sleep, and to STAY THE COURSE (a bit of my goal for the last 2 weeks, so I am overusing this phrase, but...).
