Bad weekend...

Really, really, really bad weekend - emotional eating is taking me over! Almost seems like I'm losing control - putting stuff in my mouth without even thinking. And even when I do realize what I'm doing, I almost don't care & want to keep eating. UGH!! I've lost a lot of steam this week and I need to re-focus my motivation. Got any tips?

Make sure you're logging everything so that you can see what you've had. And remind yourself that tomorrow is a new day. Wake up and make good choices tomorrow. You don't have to throw in the towel because of one funky weekend.0

I'm not throwing in the towel but in the past, I've lost some weight, people started noticing & then I gave up, a little at the time. I don't want to be that person anymore.0

I feel your pain. I just started this site this weekend and right now I'm more depressed than when I started! Holy crow! I've logged everything, and I mean e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g that passed my lips and I was over my cals. Today was def not good...family pizza night. Done and gone threw me over the edge! But tomorrow is a NEW day and I will enter it head held high and lips held tighter than they were today!!! Good luck and here's to better days =]0

Please don't beat yourself up about it. "Bad" weekend/days will happen. I try not to look at them as bad. It takes a lot to change old habits. Remember there is always another meal..or another opportunity to eat healthy. You are doing a fantastic job. Keep it up.0

Then you won't be. Have faith in yourself.0 -
I do it all the time but, now I eat almonds, apples, hot sauce and chips, a little good cheese or drink some almond milk. I also try not to watch too much TV and try not to stay in the house too much but, I also work long hours so it kind of easy for me to do the last two keep your head up, and just think how good we all are going to look by the end of the year have yourself a kick *kitten* week my friend!!!0

I went over by 500 calories today, but tomorrow I'm going to get up have a big bowl of fruit and refocus my efforts. You just need to stay strong. Emotional eating is a tough cycle to break. I try to think about the things I did right and learn from the things I did wrong.0

It must have been the weekend for roughness because I was terrible this weekend as well! Tomorrow is a new day and the start of a whole new week. One weekend won't make or break you unless you let it!0

I kinda had a bad weekend too. Lot's of stress, and other stuff are getting tangled into diet and the result is not good. I Keep a journal that I writ in almost every single night. I am always super motivated and happy when I do, so I go back and read it. I can see where I really messed up and I can see what really worked. I am trying to find the motivation to keep going as well. One thing I have been doing is really trying to take it only ONE day at a time. It can take months to see results but it all starts with one day. All of them will add up and One bad weekend can not stop you from reaching your goals! Take Care!0

There is a full moon out tonight here over Charlotte NC. I think, no I BELIEVE that it's screwing with us all!! We all have ways of sabotaging ourselves. It seems like while you like the idea of people noticing you've changed, maybe you still don't believe you DESERVE all the attention or compliments you're getting. The best tip (besides logging all the food you eat) is to journal your feelings - just let it out. don't spell check or edit as you go, just give your self 30 minutes of pure word vomit and see how you fee. You're dealing with some issues you don't even realize because they're tucked away behind all these other things. Start writing about what you ate and how you feel, soon enough you'll be writing about someone who said something to you that you didn't even notice at the time and you'll put 2 and 2 together and have that aha moment.
Journaling your thoughts and feelings along with your food will help you see the patterns of what you eat when you're feeling certain things. This will help you replace those things (say fats i.e. chips or fried foods) with healthier choices. Don't wait for these feelings to manifest themselves in food. If you start writing instead of running those tapes in your head (you know the ones where we belittle ourselves for failing yet again, how we never do anything right, everyone expects us to fail so why do we even try, etc.) you will soon be able to replace them with the little therapist inside of you who knows what to tell you when you don't know what to say to yourself. Really listen to what's going through your mind, it might surprise you.
One meal, one day, one weekend will not undo everything you've done this far. You are aware - aware of how you feel, aware of how this food makes you feel and you are aware that you DON'T accept this life any longer. Love yourself unconditionally just like you do everyone else and then get back in the game and do the best you can. That's all anyone can ask of you!0 -
I have days where I want to eat... emotional eating, but I try to keep some things on hand that I can eat and eat and not ruin my day.
Keep some veggies cut up and leave bowl out on the counter. Add some hummus or lower fat dip.
Sometimes I count out a serving of small pretzels or crackers that have a lot per serving, so I can crunch away on them when needed. Add a Laughing cow cheese or two.
Cut up an apple and maybe a littlepeanut butter or low fat caramel sauce.
Try to plan out what you will and won't eat when that emotion need hits. I find i can satisfy the need to gnaw on something with a healthy food as easily as a high calorie one. The key is to have something that satisfies the need to eat and cruch, but not blow your day.0 -
I'd say get back to the realization of how much you truely LOVE yourself!!!!How much you need to love yourself, oh and lastly LOVING yourself.0

I am a BIG emotional eater! but I am determined to do this FOR ME and that I don't want to be over weight ANYMORE! So, yes, you have to plan ahead. You know you have an emotional eating problem. You have to plan for things to be there that you can grab that won't sink your ship totally. If you can redirect what types of things you grab for, then you will feel some satisfaction later and not so depressed and defeated about it. This is a learning experience. You will do better!0

Hope your week gets better. Get distracted. Do you have any projects. Something mundane. Arranging a closet. Spring cleaning etc. Usually works for me.0

Oh sweet Tammy,
YOU CAN DO IT! Keep your chin up and your head held high! Put your faith back in yourself and in Him. Trust yourself, you are changing your lifestyle and as long as you know you are struggling, you are still fighting!
We had a family day this weekend, cookout with all kinds of good eats, and although I did REALLY well that day, I took leftovers home to my hunny, including sweets! Unfortunately... I ate most of them! BUT, someone earlier said, make sure you are logging it, even if you know you've been bad, because you will know what you need to recover from.
Don't lose HOPE! (Remember, we are bringing *her* home!!)
