I LOVE FOOD NETWORK!!! I cannot stop watching it. It's so funny because usually if someone watches a show like diners, drive-ins, and dives, people want to go eat that food or make a food like what they show. BUT me I absolutely love to watch it but i dot get that desire!! So I feel so happy and comfortable watching the food network 24/7 haha. What are your favorite shows on the FOOD NETWORK and what are your favorite recipes!!!???!?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Food Network...
Favourites are the competitions, especially Chopped and Iron Chef, but really just love learning about food. LOL0 -
Alton Brown's Good Eats. I love when Science and Food come together. He actually educates people as to the hows and whys of food, not just " do it this way because it's my recipe". He also went through a time where he gained some major weight but admittedly started changing his recipes to show us where he went wrong. I used to watch Graham Kerr when I was pregnant with my 2nd. My ex grew up watching the Galloping Gourmet in the days when French Cooking was all the rage and fat and butter and omg carbs were not taboo but foods of the Gods! lol I loved how his new show took all his old recipes and made them over to be more healthy but often better tasting than the old ones. He actually showed you the before and after numbers too. The Frugal Gourmet was also a favorite but I think these last two weren't on FN. :blushing: BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN!0

I love food network challenge with the cakes, ace of cakes, cupcake wars, unwrapped, basically all the unhealthy programmes!0 -

I LOVE the best thing I ever ate. But it DOES make me want to travel all over the US and try the foods! Salted caramel brownies got me!
Im also a big fan of Alton Brown.0 -
If you haven't seen the South Park episode "Creme Freiche" go to southparkstudios.com and watch it...its so dead on how it portrays the food channel as food porn which is really what it is...you sit there and are like uuuugh look at that steak! or burger or whatever while eating your crappy sandwich and salviating over the food0

Love the food channel as well, my favorite is Barefoot Contessa. I think learning about all different kinds of foods is great, and they is usually a way to make them healthier.0

Oh, Ace of Cakes, Guy's Big Bites, and, of course, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. As I'm now in the UK, I feel completely free to watch that sort of food porn, because I have no access to it. Also, I see the huuuuuuge portions and think, ugh, that's my calories for the week that someone just ate in one sitting. I love watching, but it's no temptation, because all I can think is the amount of grease, fat, sodium, and sugar that people are piling into their bodies, and being thankful that's no longer me!0

Exactly! Not to long ago, I could not even watch these shows because they would get me up and sifting through the kitchen! Now, I just see the tons of butter, sodium, and sugar and think YUCK! Show me something to whip up that has 200 calories, 1g of fat, and 20g of sodium that tastes great- now then I'd be impressed!0 -
There isn't a whole lot of cooking being done on the Food Network compared to a few years ago. They've gotten rid of a lot of the shows that did serious kitchen work. When they first started they did have re-runs of the Galloping Gourmet and Julia Child. Now they have more travelogues and cake competition type shows.
If you want to see more real cooking (and learn a lot about cooking for yourself and your family, including how to make a recipe healthier) you could check to see if your cable or satellite system carries the Cooking Channel.0 -
I love Chopped, Unwrapped and Cupcake Wars!!!0

Triple D is my favorite! I also love Barefoot Contessa and Alex's Day Off. My husband asks me all the time why I subject myself to such torture, watching Guy Fieri eat his way across America. I'm kind of living vicariously through him! I'm really addicted to The Travel Channel- I can't get enough of Anthony Bourdain and No Reservations!0

I also love The Travel Channel's Man vs. Food. It's more comedy than food show!0
