Hi all- I am starting p90x this week and I am a little scared! I am pretty heavy, although I have lost 30 lbs, I'm still up there! I'm afraid I won't be able to handle some of the requirements such as push ups. I broke my wrist years ago and since, because I am so heavy, I am unable to do a regular push up. I currently do "girl" push ups until I get some more weight off. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!!

  • Yep, just modify! I still do a lot of the pushups from my knees and gradually I'm getting better and better. And Tony suggests pushup bars with those with wrist issues.

P90X kicks behind! It takes consistency and dedication. Just do what you can and you will get stronger and stronger as you go. Push yourself, but not so hard you injure yourself. Don't get discouraged if you don't see results on the scale right away. It took me several weeks, but I noticed my shape changing and my ability to do more improve a lot quicker. There were some exercises that I couldn't do because of bad hips etc, but you can do other things to replace those. Do the girly push-ups as long as you need to. They will still make you stronger and you will eventually be able to get up on your toes. The YOGA kills, but keep doing it. Your flexibility and balance will improve within weeks. I did the lean workouts and really liked those. I didn't want to get bulky and muscular. You can do it... it is tough, but totally worth it!

I also have my 30 and 60 day pics on my profile. It's tough the first week but just do what you can and keep going! You will be so glad you did! I am in the last week and SO happy with the results! I am planning on doing Insanity next, but will keep doing some of the P90X workouts with the weights. Good luck! Add me if you'd like!

I am starting 30 Day Shred in a few mins and I too am apprehensive - but as my doctor just told me the other day - SHOOT FOR THE STARS AND IF YOU GET TO THE MOON THAT IS GREAT - in other words don't give up and say you can't do it - just try and keep on going ! Good Luck !

Honey, I've been doing P90X for 6 months and I still do pushups on my knees! I agree with previous posts... MODIFY! Take it one day at a time and do what you can, no matter how little that may be. Jog in place during the moves that are too difficult and build up to them. Don't be intimidated. Just remember that you chose to push play instead of watch TV, so that is a win in itself!

Just two things you need to do modify and push play everyday. You will improve and you will be amazed at just how strong you are and will become. Have fun with it but commit to doing it everyday. Best of luck
  • Just started last night! Looking forward to taking this journey together!

do the best you can and modify the moves. don't hurt yourself trying to keep up with them because the people in the dvd are super fit and even they struggle sometimes. you will do great.. my 1st round of p90x i did girl push ups as well and used a chair to help me with pull ups. best wishes!
