i think if your pregnant you shouldnt worry about a calorie intake, your doctor can tell you if this is true or not. As long as you are eating healthy and not just going off into teh sunset with a box of snickers ice cream bars each night, you should be ok, lol.
Oh and CONGRATS!!!:happy:0 -
Congrats! So the feeling like crap is worth it hu? Lol
I would up my calories. Look up online what is recommended0 -
Sounds like a good question for your doctor.0

ASK YOUR DR! That isn't something to take other people's word on. CONGRAT, though, that is really cool0

Congrats on your pregnancy! I think its best to talk to your dr about that. Its never good to restrict calories when pregnany, infact your body needs an extra 200-300 calories per day during pregnancy.0

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with baby #4! I completed my weight loss journey last year before I got pregnant and now I'm maintaining. I also train with other pregnant women! You can lose weight while pregnant depending on how overweight you are to begin with. So my first question to you would be, how overweight are you? Obviously you can't go drastic but you can definitely work on you and have a happy healthy pregnancy.0

Ask a Nutritionist - through your local health unit.0

Congratulations! I'd suggest eating at your maintenance level until you see your doctor to find out what they recommend. In the first trimester I don't think you would need to eat much extra, just make sure you are feeding your body lots if nutrient rich food and read up on what to avoid (cold meats, soft cheeses etc), you'll find HEAPS of info out there (just my thoughts, your doctor will advise you)0

OMG OMG OMG, my husband and I are trying to get pregnant...I probably have 10 more or so to lose before I think I will look good in the mirror, and I'm hoping not to gain toooo much when I get pregnant so I know how you feel. You really shouldn't gain more than 15 pounds according to women in my family, they eat sensibly. I would figure out what your maintenance is and then add a couple hundred, and when you work out definitely eat those cals! Good luck! Hope I'm in the same boat soon! Oh yeah, I forgot, my sis is an obgyn and she says you shouldn't gain more than 15, 20lbs maximum if you begin at a healthy weight, it's not a binge fest people!!! Gosh, I hope I don't balloon when I'm pregnant!0

Defiantly ask your doctor! It will depend on so many things. Congrats by the way!!0

I just found out I'm pregnant too! I'm planning on keeping my calories the same for a little while. At this point the baby is so small and doesn't need much in the way of nutrition. Of course, I'll be listening to my body and eating when I'm hungry. But, I won't switch to maintenance just yet. I'll certainly be eating a lot more than I did when I was pregnant with my daughter, when I had terrible morning sickness for 6 months!
So, as long as you're taking your prenatal vitamins and eating healthy foods when you're hungry, there's no need to increase your calories just yet. As your baby grows you'll need about 300 calories more than your maintenance amount.0 -
Talk to your doctor, my doctor always told me I needed 300 additional calories - no more, no less. But ask yours anyway!0

Only very overweight women should gain 15 pounds during pregnancy. For a woman of average weight the weight gain should be closer to 25-30 pounds. Underweight women should gain up to 45 pounds.
If you start at a healthy weight and eat healthy during your pregnancy you won't gain much body fat. Some is gained to help with breastfeeding. When you think about how much weight is gained from 50% more blood, a ton of extra fluid, a 6-8 pound baby, placenta, etc. it ends up equaling around 25 pounds.0 -

The first OB I saw with my very first pregnancy gave me a big lecture on how I needed to gain 45 lbs. That was one of the reasons why I switched to a different Dr. My 2nd OB rolled his eyes when I asked about that and told me that I simply needed to gain 0.5-1 lb. per week in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. I gained 19 with my 1st baby and she was totally healthy. My 2nd and 3rd pregnancies I gained 29 lbs. but I started at a lower weight.0 -
Talk to your doctor. Congrats on the pregnancy, though! I'm due with baby #4 in just under 8 weeks. SO excited!
I'm mostly here cause it's fun, I'm not calorie counting or logging exercise. I try to eat healthy and exercise, but not to the point where I'm totally exhausted.
My advice to you right now would be to SLEEP! Sleep as much as you can, when you can, the first trimester is rough!0 -

A big part of how much you gain is the size of your baby. If you have a bigger baby you'll gain more weight, also having more room to keep a baby has a lot to do with how much fluid you will have. There is no exact number, the numbers I gave are fairly standard recommendations. I was overweight for both my pregnancies. I lost weight for the first half (not on purpose) and then gained 30 pounds each time. My babies were 7lbs 15oz and 8lbs 9oz. I expect to have the exact same thing happen this time, though I expect an even bigger baby if I only have one, or 7-8 pound babies if I have twins.0 -
You actually only need an extra 300 calories per day. That's all!0
