Water Intake

Could somebody direct me to a good article about the importance of water intake? My sister is on her own weight loss journey but gives me a very skeptical look when I try to convince her just how much water will help her!

A few years back I read an article that said the 8x8oz glasses a day rule was based on an average sized person of 130lbs, and instead you should drink an ounce of water for every two pounds you weigh......eg. at 200lb, you should be drinking 100oz (12.5 x 8oz)....but apparently there is no real scientific data to back any of this up. Your body signals are really the best gauge of how much you need as it's going to vary day to day.

An easy rule of thumb I was taught is that you should aim to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water. So if you weight 150lbs, you should try to drink 75oz of water. 75 oz in about half a gallon plus about 11 ounces. If you're drinking this amount of what you wont carry around water weight with you.
It sucks when you're as heavy as me. I weight 365. 365lbs = 182.5oz= a gallon and a half of water EVERY FRIKKIN DAY! Ugh! It's horrible. But I got myself into this mess, and I'm working my way back out.0
