Whey Protein Shake

Hey guys, so a friend recommended I take a Whey Protein Shake with a meal ... or throughout the day...
but i'm looking @ the label and it doesnt sound so "good" but then again im new to checking labels .. just want some input.
A thing im a little worried about is, my Doc said my triglycerides are pretty high and she told me to get on a diet LOW on cholesterol.. and i dont see a way to track cholesterol on MFP food diary
any way here is the label
Cals 100
Cholesterol 55mg
Protein 18g
Total Fat 2g
Total Carbs 2g
Calcium 93mg
Phosphorus 103mg
Magnesium 23mg
Sodium 40mg
Potassium 210mg
this would all be in one scoop with 8oz water
maybe i shouldve posted this in the nutrition section ... lol

If you are concerned about cholesterol stick to a whey isolate. They have very little to no cholesterol. Example of one below:
Calories 100
Calories From Fat 0
Total Fat 0g 0%
Saturated Fat 0g 0%
Trans Fat 0g
Cholesterol 0mg 0%
Total Carbohydrate 2g 3%
Sugars 0g t
Protein 23g 46%
Calcium 6.3mg 0%
Sodium 0mg 0%
Potassium 190mg 5%0 -
my home > setting tab> Food and Exercise Diary Settings>you can add cholestrol as a setting and it will let you monitor it just like you do calories, protien, etc. Good Luck!0

I do Premier Protein, 11oz, 160 calories, 30gr protein, 3gr fat, 25mg Cholestrol, 340mg Sodium, 500mg Potassium, 5gr carbs.
But I drink mine as a meal not in addition to a meal!0 -
I have been reading alot about how sugar is toxic, metabolic dysorders and low glycemic foods. The things I have read seem to say that sugar/simple carbs are what raise our triglycerides. I don't believe in eating a HIGH fat diet either though. But doesn't it make sense? For example if eating fat made you fat, would eating Twinkies make you a Twinkie? No. So how does eating foods high in cholesterol raise your cholesterol? This article in the New York Times is what convinced me:

you might try intek nutrition protein powder. 1 scoop, Calories: 160, Fat: 1g, Carbs: 2g, Protein: 34g

But if you are concerned about eating foods with cholesterol in them, here is a simple trick:
If the food comes from a source that has a liver (cow, pig, chicken, fish etc) it has cholesterol in it. If the food source does not have a liver (all fruits and vegetables, grains, nuts etc) it has no cholesterol.0 -
I really like Dymatize Elite Whey Protein Isolate. It comes in a lot of flavors. They have about 24g of protein per scoop. Also, the Elite version has no sugar, and no artificial sweeteners, either. The cheapest I've found have been from netrition.com0
