Hello! I'm using MFP to hopefully lose the weight I've gained by successfully becoming an ex smoker.
I was already carrying an extra 10lbs I couldn't ditch after the birth of my 3rd child. I had come to terms with that little bit of extra weight but since I quit smoking 3 months ago, I've gained an additional 15. That number seems to keep rising slowly.
I'm here to lose the weight!! I'm here to get and give support! !
Um, so hello

Congrats on several things I suppose - birth, quit smoking and of course for joining MFP
We're all here to help and advise.. Scroll through the blogs and the forums, it's a constant source of info..
Add people to become friends to help with the journey as well..
How did you quit smoking? Do you feel you are adding weight through snacking - are you aware of the 5D's?
The Five D's
* Delay until the urge passes - usually within 3 to 5 minutes.
* Distract yourself. Call a friend or go for a walk.
* Drink water to fight off cravings.
* Deep Breaths - Relax! Close your eyes and take 10 slow, deep breaths.
* Discuss your feelings with someone close to you
Good luck - if you can quit smoking - weight loss will be easy..0 -

MPEV, thank you! My baby is 2 1/2 now, lol.
I quit smoking cold Turkey over 3 months ago. It was very easy for me to do. I ended up in the hospital because I was absolutely positive I was having a heart attack. A few days and numerous tests later I was discharged from the hospital and diagnosed as having had a panic/anxiety attack. I was relaxed in a recliner reading when it came on...needless to say, I was scared into dropping the cigs. I still have chest pains often and my heart will feel like it skips beats. I assume if there was anything wrong they would have told me though. Right?
So, for the first 4-5 weeks I snacked ALOT on anything I could get my hands on. I knew I'd gain alittle. Cravings became tolerable and I started to feel better (I still wanted to rip the heads off anyone who dared to smoke within my view, but otherwise my cravings for nicotine where much better).
I am confident now that I AM a nonsmoker. I'm somewhat confused about my weight gain tho. Just having used MFP for this one day, its shown me that while I think I'm eating healthy my portions are too big. You probably CAN consume too much yogurt, huh?
Gosh, I'm rambling.0 -
