Interesting Graph of Progress

Total deficit over 25 days was 16811 calories, assuming my BMR is 2161. That BMR came from this website http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/. I think its the same as MFP. Strange thing is I've lost 10 pounds, but if I divide my total deficit by 3500 it seems I should have only lost 4.8 pounds. Why would the deficit only equal half of what I actually lost? I logged most if not all of my exercise, including walking between classes. Eh, still interesting.

    Maybe because that doesn't account for water weight?

    I doubt it, I drink a lot of water, and eat a lot of sodium.

    Because BMR doesn't account for doing anything. Everything you do uses calories, so you just burned more than you thought you did. Or it was water, or some other "hormonal" factor ,that caused losses.

    Maybe you were constipated during your previous weigh in; maybe you didn't eat quite as much sodium as usual just before this weigh in...

    But also, BMR off the internet is a guesstimate. If you want to be this scientific about it all, you need to have your BMR measured, not calculated. Some high end gyms offer this service.

    You still need to enclose the image URL in img brackets

    You need a starting image tag {img}

    and a closing image tag that has a backslash {/img}

    {img}http://www.blah.com/image.png {/img}

    replace those with the [ ] brackets. I just used the squiggly ones so it wouldn't read it as code

    You're dealing with a straight caloric deficit and, as you've seen, that's only part of the "eat less, exercise more".

    The "exercise" part burns more calories but the "best" part is that increased exercise both boosts your metabolic rate and builds muscle, which, in turn, boosts your metabolic rate.

    The combination of those three factors can lead to some dramatic weight loss.

    I keep my stats here:

    http://cbeinfo.net/weight.htm

    If you look through the gory details (column 3) you'll see that when I'm in a loss phase, it's no unusual to lose 2+ pounds overnight.

    All in all, there's something to this "Eat less, exercise more" thing, eh? :smile:

    Atleast it's safe to say the eat less exercise more routine can go a long way when you have alot of fat to burn. I can only speculate when my BMI gets low enough to the point where it starts to backfire.

    Thats actually a dynamically generated page. If you right click on the graph you will get the actual URL for the image file...which is what I used
