Knee & Shin Pain

I ran my first 5K this past Sunday. My body was most likely not ready as I had never run 3.1 miles before. But, I made it and I made it in a decent time. However, my knees and shins are killing me and hindering my ability to work out for the past few days.

I did stretch afterward and I have great running shoes that were fitted for my gait.

Any insight or advice on what I am doing wrong or how to make them feel better?

Thanks!!! :)

Stretching has no impact on injury or pain after a work-out or exercise session.

If you're just aching and sore, then rest and time is the only remedy.

If you're actually injured, see a doctor.

Rest, ice, and ibuprofen:wink: And keep stretching!

I think you might have figured this one out by yourself! :-)

Had you built up to near 3.1 miles in training beforehand or did you wake up and decide to run a 5k?

If it was the latter 3.1 miles let alone RACING 3.1 miles without preparation would do it!

Hydrate, ibuprophen, rest, ice, maybe wrap your knees, and elevate them. Good luck! ;-)
