OK, so I'm curious about something... I had gone swimming at the gym about a month ago and received the WORST EAR INFECTION along with an impacted tooth.:explode: So after 4 office visits to my physician and antibiotic ear drops w/ a steroid in them, and 3 other prescriptions that did not work, along with an antibiotic for my tooth... IT SEEMED LIKE MY ATTEMPTS AT WEIGHTLOSS BECAME STAGNATE! :noway:
While I'm quite dedicated at seeing a change and faithfully participate in Zumba 3x a week (WHICH HELPS ME SEE INCHES LOST) and keeping my calories beneath the 1500 advised... I HAVE NOT LOST 1LB in a MONTH!!!
I'm fighting to maintain the zeal... I wish the inches were enough, but... I don't know what else I can do besides go to liquids or something. HELP!!!:flowerforyou:

I have been on doryx an antibiotic for acne and I have slowly put on about 20 lbs over the last 2 year. I also have been on a number of different meds for ADHA and depression over that time. I contributed my excess weight gain to the change in my lifestyle, working from home, eating more, binge eating more, not exercising, etc. Which yes, was most def a reason why. However, when I did begin back on a healthy eating pattern, restriction of fat calories, and consistant exercise I notices the weight wasn't coming off like it should have been. I honestly started at 160 and for about a month and a half my weight fluxuated between 160 and 157! During that time, I started examine the prescriptions I was taking. I stayed on my adderall, because 1. I need it to get through my day and complete my work and schooling tasks, and 2 its a stimuate and controls my binge eating disorder. I stopped taking the trazadone, I stopped the zoloft. I switched to wellbutrin, which is supposed to be a "skinny happy" pill. Well the weight was not budging.
I finally started doing some research on the doryx. Well what I found out was that pretty much, what do they give cattle and chickens to fatten them up for us to eat - steriods and antibiotics! Well why wouldn't that same effect happen to a person? Which i believe in my case, the long term antibiotic use WAS a factor. I have stopped taking the doryx for about 3 weeks now. My weight has gone from 155 to 150 in that 3 weeks. So for 6-7 weeks i was gaining and loosing the same 3 pounds, in 3 weeks I have lost 5. I'm just saying!0 -
One reason you might not be losing any weight could be from having low gut flora. All the antibiotics you've been taking having probably been killing all the good bacteria you have in your body as well and its especially important for you digestive health that you 'recolonize' them. The good bacteria in your body is responsible for many different aspects of your health, including maintaining a healthy weight!! A lot of foods have these bacteria in them, like yogurts or kefir, but at this point it might be best to use a supplement. A pretty common one is called Florajen that you can find pretty much anywhere, I know Walgreens has it. One of the best ones, in my opinion, is called All-Flora by New Chapter. Make sure, with whichever one you choose, to take it at least four hours away from your antibiotic and on an empty stomach... so wait about an hour after taking it to eat anything. And try to take it as many times during the day this way. Just another thought, you might wanna try drinking a glass of warm water with a tablespoon or two of apple cider vinegar before each meal.... GOOD LUCK!!0
