These 2 words make me cringe. Looking at them also makes me want to cringe. Losing 125lbs is awesome and I feel awesome, but this skin/fat stuff thats still on my inner thighs is not doing ANYTHING for me. The rest of my legs (outer thighs included) have all shaped up very nicely, but now what? I need to, NEED to get this in control.

I am an avid lunger, squatter and elliptical machine do-er.
Any other tips that will help this troubled area of mine?

I feel your pain. I don't have many suggestions, other than to do the inner/outer leg machine at the gym. I do leg lifts and the inner leg lift cross. It's not helping! I am curious to hear other's suggestions. I have only lost 72 lbs. I had lost 10 before I started MFP.. but 72 total. I can definitely see the flab.. and want it gone!

Plie squats (also sometimes called sumo squats), where you point your toes outward and then squat. Curtsy squats (take one leg back and behind the OTHER leg as you do a squat movement), lay on the floor and do one side at a time of inner-thigh lifts (inner thigh should be pointed towards the ceiling, jog/skip SIDEWAYS on the treadmill (this really does more outer thigh, but also hits inner. Good luck!

I'm in the EXACT same position as you and as far as I know the skin can only tighten up so much and then surgery is the final option. I am thinking I'm going to have to learn to love swim shorts with bikini tops and knee length skirts and just come to accept that skin or save up 20,000 for surgery.

This is what Jillian says.. hope it helps.

Q: I really like how my quads and hams have started tightening up, but my inner thighs have a long way to go. Any suggestions for exercises that will help this area?

    A:
Sadly, this is where your body chooses to deposit its fat. Genetically speaking, your body is predisposed to carry weight there, so that will be the last place it's going to come off. The best thing you can do is watch what you eat and keep training. This will help you lose weight in general — and eventually those problem areas are gonna have to give!

That said, if strengthening the muscles in this area is the goal, I prefer old-school Jane Fonda leg lifts. They target the muscle you want to hit without creating bulk. I know this isn't exactly the answer you're looking for, but it's the truth, and if you stay the course, your inner thighs WILL tighten up. Just keep doing what you're doing!

A lot of patience and some time ~ it may take a while for your skin to catch up with your body's weight loss, and the slower the better (IMO) for that very reason (sagging skin).

Climb stairs 4 days a week ~ nothing transforms my legs (or butt) like that! You might also want to try some of the cellulite creams that can tighten up the area a little with caffeine.

I wish you the best ~ my thighs are my worst area too ~ always the last (if ever) to go!
  • Hi! I have to second khrys1 on Plie squats. I find them more effective than the abductor machine. I also do them with free weights in my hands. Inner thighs improved so far but not as fast as I would like them too! Keep up the motivation girls!

This whole journey takes patience! (as you already know). Just keep on keeping on. If you have nowhere else to lose, you WILL lose it in your thighs. But as this Q&A states, your thighs will most likely be the last area to go. Good luck!!
