Hello
I am starting to eat healthier again and do fitness to achieve a healthier lifestyle and to get into shape :)

On packets of cereal etc it has for example " A 50g serving of swiss style meusli and 125ml of semi skimmed milk will provide you with 225 Kcals"

Would any of you advise weighing out such foods as cereals etc to keep track of calories, I dont want to become obsessive but I want to teach myself portion control

Thankyou
xx

I measure everything. I don't think it's obsessive, I think it's how to learn portion control. Some day maybe I'll be able to eyeball it, but for now I love my measuring cups and kitchen scale!
  • until you can eyeball it, measure/weigh it.

Me too, I weigh everything I eat.
I ended up buying 3 sets of measuring cups and a kitchen scale.
Until you measure and weigh you don't realize how much you are eating!
  • I weigh and mesaure everything, it's what holds me accountable.

just weighed out 2oz of turkey for my sandwich! We have a scale in the kitchen upstairs and also one downstairs where we have a fridge and wet bar. I also use a measuring cup for things. I think it really helps to get the portion size right.

    Thankyou guys,

I dont mean obsessive in a bad way so please dont be mistaken, but I dont think I would be able to keep it up if i'm honest

I have just weighed out 8 days worth of breakfast then so I can wake up and have it without snacking before breakfast or after because I'm making bad choices.

Portion control is my biggest let down eyes are bigger than my belly so then my belly gets crammed with food.

I always measure cereal and nuts, it's too easy for me to over-serve myself otherwise. Some other things I can accurately estimate by eye but if there's a question, I measure or weigh when it's an option. I don't feel like I'm being obsessive, just good to myself.
