Im a 22 year old female. Im 5"6 and 143 pounds. I always start working out for two weeks and then stop when I had enough cause I kinda hate to work out PLUS I find the sit ups kinda hurt my head even though I know im doing them right cause I feel it in my stomach. Anyways this time I am determined to look good for the summer...I want to look super hot lol...I started my working out and calorie counting yesterday (wednesday April 20th). Yesterday I did go over my calorie intake alittle but I did about 60-80 sit ups and i ran for 5 mins on the spot. TODAY though I only ate 1000 calories..less than im suppose too and then I burned almost 200 so I have 434 calories left over today. I did 60-80 sit ups, ran on the spot for 6 mins and then did 15 reps of leg swings ( guess thats what you call them ....apparently they help with love handles) I did this 3x each side.
This is what i had to eat today: Fried ham, two slices of raisin bread..no butter and green tea for breakfast then for lunch I had 5 chicken nuggets from mcdonalds, with a few fries...wasn't even eqaul to a small fries at mcdonalds and a diet coke then for dinner I had bowl of Kraft dinner and a can of coke....and I STILL managed to go under my calorie intake for the day and i burned almost 200 working out:)
SO my question is can you basically eat anything as long as you don't go over your calorie limit and then work out..will I still loose weight?
do u think i could loose btw 15 and 20 pounds by Middle to end of june? How many days should I work out? CW: 143 G: 120-128
PS. Bust: 34 Waist:28 Hips: 39 ......what body shape do I have?
thanks

yes you will lose weight
and a ton of people are going to bombard you eith "BUT IT'S NOT HEALTHY WAAAH" just fyi
since you're at a lower weight as it is, it will be tougher to lose weight. 15 pounds is more reasonable by june
you're prob pear or hourglass0 -
Technically you could eat what ever you liked and as long as you stay within your recommended cals (definitely not less than 1200 including any cals burned during exercise) then you should be able to lose weight......HOWEVER not all cals are equal and you get more food to eat if you eat healthier more nutritious foods which means that you wont be hungry which means that you wont fall off the wagon and binge because you are so freakin hungry.0

To answer your question... Yes and No
Yes - If you stick to the recommended net calories provided by MFP you should steadily lose weight for a while. The way this site works is that all of our plans have a built in calorie deficit, which does allow you to lose weight even if you do ZERO exercise. Also, yes, you can really eat anything and everything you want, but you will quickly see the clear trade off between healthier foods which can keep you satisfied throughout more of the day vs. a burger and fries which could easily eat up an 1400 net calorie limit in one sitting.
buuuuuttttttttt.....
NO - In the end you will NEED to exercise. All of our bodies have this pain in the *kitten* truth known as adaptive thermogenesis. Thermo-wha? Yeah, it's just a fancy way of saying that your body will adapt to a smaller caloric intake and you will eventually plateau at a weight that is usually not your goal. This is a double whammy because this adaptation actually lowers your metabolism (Baso metabolic rate) from what it originally was. It actually takes quite a lot of work and energy to burn for our bodies to move around when we're heavier and doing even the most basic of things. Worst of all, even if you pretended to be deathly allergic to working out and were content w/ your small intake... once you hit 40 you'd have to get ready to scale back EVEN MORE because each year after 40, we naturally lose 5% of calories naturally burned w/ BRM. So say you managed with my arbitrary example 1400 net calories + 0 cals burned from working out - by age 45 you'd have to drop to eating only 1083 calories, age 50 - 838 calories, and if you weren't emaciated by age 75 you could chow down on 388 calories max!
Lol yeah, it's extreme but the moral of the story is diet alone will NOT ensure long term health, this is why it's so common to see people "yo-yo". Working out allows you to strengthen your muscles and cardio so that your body burns more calories even when doing "nothing" like sitting or sleeping.
Lastly, if this is all new to you, by all means just take it one step at time and focus on just eating within your net limit - you will see results. Then, if you slowly add in the physical activity you'll love the sudden drop that comes with amping up your bodies output levels and will actually enjoy the fact that you can eat more! Good luck!0
