Hi my name is Kathy and I have been overweight all of my life. I never learned how to eat healthy. I have been dieting since January 10th of this year and have lost 39 pounds so far. It doesn't seem to be coming off as easily as it did when I was younger. It has been many years since I have even tried to diet. I became ill in 2005 and was diagnoised with Crohn's disease and for a very long time I could not eat anything that I considered healthy, now that I am finally feeling back to normal I am ready to lose the weight and be healthy for the first time in my life! I have been using MFP for about a month now and I really like being able to track my exercise and calories. Good luck to all on their weight loss journey!

Congrats. I have been on for 50 days and have lost 23 pounds. I am probably eating a higher calorie intake at 1840 but want to do it slowly so that i will keep it off. I want to learn to eat right for a change. I did feel good a couple of days ago because the counting calories is helping me see serving sizes and when I went to eat a donut I looked it up and went nope want other food instead of that. It was a first so it is working. It is just taking a long time. I was hoping to lose 50 pounds in three months but I realize I will have to add more exercise to do that. Good luck on your journey also.

My nephew has Chron's, and he swears by "Garden of Life"products. When you are in the health food store (or even a second hand store) see if you can't find a copy of Jason Rubin's book--he started the company. They were given away for free, so don't pay a lot (like retail) to get one. The products are pricey (to me) but totally worth it, and go on sale a couple of times/yr.

Yes, it's great to be able to track calories so easily. First time for me, too. 39#s is awesome--that's what I need to lose. Very inspiring.

Thanks everyone for your kind words of encouragement! I have a long way to go, I want to lose 117 more pounds. I recently have tried Zumba for the exercising and I am loving it! liagarden- I will definitely look into finding a copy of that book! I have been really lucky so far, since I have been diagnosed I have not had any serious flare-ups!
