You want help??? HERE IT IS!!!!

Ok, so I find myself on the boards a lot giving the same advice to different people over and over again. So, I finally decided to compile a list of the information and websites that have helped me the most! I have incorporated all of these things in my life and have lost 20 lbs since joining MFP and am seeing amazing changes and results in my body, AND I feel great and have lots of energy.

Here are my GOLDEN NUGGETS of wisdom I've learned since January and decided to share! I know it's quite a bit of information and it will take some time to read through it, but I hope this is helpful to folks who are "stuck" or interesting to those of you who like to educate yourselves on health and wellness (such as yours truly).

I have to thank my MFP friends as many of these sites I found through other postings or friends on here! :flowerforyou:

Sorry but the steady state cardio post IS NOT THE ANSWER. Guess I lost all 40-50lbs by just being me right?

It works, I guess there is no correlation between long distance runners and their slender physiques.

she should not have titled her article steady state cardio is not the answer because it is, people need to learn that doing cardio at the same threashold over time does nothing. Your body is like your mind, once it learns something and it does it repetitively over time it because easy so you need to raise the bar so you raise your HR be it with a higher speed, incline or resistance but your HR still stays at a steady state just now a higher one!!!

Never said it wouldn't work. Just showing that there are studies out there that show you can get FASTER results by incorporating interval training. Some days I don't have the energy to do intervals and will just plod along in steady state.

    Congrats on your success!

I agree! I come from "old school" fitness where the longer you exercise, the better. But I'm slowly finding out that when I do run intervals (which is a BONUS because I get to walk too!) I burn more calories and have lost weight faster. I love it!

Agreed on HIIT. I'm not stupid enough to say that SS doesn't work at all, but save it for the interesting SS stuffs like gardening, lawn mowing, painting your house, etc. Don't hamster wheel it if you don't have to. That gets boring - quick. :-D

I just did what I'd call HIIT (though probably not textbook HIIT since I didn't have a heart attack/throw up/pass out/etc). It's been a couple of hours now and my resting heart rate is a 27% increase over what it was a couple of days ago (it was real low) indicating that I'm burning more at rest. How long that'll last? No idea.
