Hi I was curios if anyone has ever taking hypoythalmus Pmg to reset their hypothalmus? I had a friend tell me that it can help you lose weight and keep you focused! Ive heard of other diets doing the same thing but what intrigued me is that this is just a supplement not a diet and not a miacle in a bottle.. Thanks any input would be greatly appreciated!!

    "Hypothalamus PMG® Is A Special
    Combination Formula With The Principal
Ingredients Of 145 Mg Of Bovine
    Hypothalamus PMG™ Extract, Calcium
    Lactate, And Magnesium Citrate"

    (...per http://impachealth.com/files/product_sheets/HYPOTHAL.PDF)

Sounds weird! I can't find any reviews for this online but..."Bovine Hypothalamus PMG™ Extract" sounds like "we sucked some stuff out of a cow brain and you should eat it in capsule form." :noway:

    Anyone have any more info?

It doesn't sound very safe to me... as well as being to do with hunger cravings, the hypothalamus also has a lot of other important functions such as hormone secretion (can seriously affect emotions/moods) & even things like heart rate! So how can this supplement effect only your cravings, I wonder? :/
  • I know thats why I was wondering! It says it's suppose to help with all of that but I can't find any info on why and or any side effects no reviews what so ever..... The only thing I have heard is from my friend that said she lost weight taking it and felt great at the sametime. Weird......

Just because it's a "supplement" doesn't mean it is good. Remember that supplements are not regulated in the same way as prescription drugs are (and let's not get into the success rate of that here). Just about anyone can sell any "supplement" as long as they do not make any serious health claims about it. You'll always see "...not evaluated by FDA" or some such language to attempt to remove their liability. Some are actively toxic. (Remember the diet pills containing ephedra? Those are "supplements" too. Now Alli is under fire.)

So far, everything I've read about it seems highly questionable and the sales pitches sound just like used-car salesmen, mostly by "herbalists" and other people trying to separate you from your money.

Not only is there bovine (cow) form, but there's also a porcine (pig) form. Just do a Google search on "hypothalamus pmg" and you'll get pages of results. (Note that the OP spelled hypothalamus pmg incorrectly. This is the correct spelling.)

I checked MedLine and www.nih.gov and there is no reference whatsoever (that I could find), other than to the hypothalamus itself, of course..

Check with your doctor, who will probably tell you not to waste your money or take a chance with your health, especially if you're already taking Rx meds.

Here is a web site to read for info about fraudulent weight loss products: http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm246742.htm.

    HTH.
