weight loss when starting to run?

help settle an argument please. I would love to start the c25k programme but my hubby is quite reluctant for me to start as he feels i would lose more weight (which he doesnt want me too). I have been in maintainance mode for over 3.5 weeks now and very happy with how i look/ feel.
so for those who started this programme, did u lose weight? bearing in mind that i dont want to. I have explained that i will eat more etc etc but he's still worried! MEN!!! so its kind of putting me off!

I don't know what's "typical" but I started running in January and now run 25-30 miles a week and didn't lose a single lb until I started MFP! So....for me, no - I maintained how I was eating and maintained my weight. Running seems to have done nothing except get me in better shape0

Running has never helped me lose "weight", but when I was at goal weight running had me looking AMAZING. Even helped me obtain a six pack.....although that didn't last. It was a really hard weight to maintain:)0

I started the C210K eight weeks ago and have hardly seen any weight loss. The last 3 weeks have been nothing scale wise but I have seen inches lost. I can visually see the difference in my legs. I would think that if you definitely eat back your work out calories and are sticking with a caloric intake for maintenance mode that you would not have a problem losing more weight. You may even gain on the scale if you are building muscles.0

I started couch to 5 k 2 weeks ago and have gained 5 lbs. (which I am not happy about)

I think you should start running regardless of whether you're going to lose more weight. By increasing your activity, your body will require more calories, therefore you will eat more. But really, if you want to start on the healthy goal of running, you should! You will feel even better than you do now! Good luck!
P.S. I love the couch to 5K program. I'm on week 5. I havent lost much weight from that alone - (probably because I replenish the calories from running and other forms of exercuse) but I do feel stronger and have more endurance. I'm just about to end week 5 and head into week 6.0 -
When I first started running I was a BIG girl, so I lost weight pretty quickly.
You don't have the extra weight to shed, so as long as you keep your calories up it should just help tone you!
No harm in trying.
I did the C25K years ago and loved it. I had forgotten all about it. Now I am tempted to do it again. IT really built up my endurance!0 -
As long as you eat back the calories you spend while running I can't imagine you would lose more weight? Just make sure you are giving your body enough fuel to maintain the weight you are happy with so it doesn't have to "spend the stores" and your maintaining should be fine even with the addition of running.0

I'm on c210k (about to start week 6) and I didn't start losing weight until I started MFP (and watching my calorie intake). There's definitely a difference in the tone of my legs though.0

It can cause weight loss, but it depends on how you feed that engine.
I ran some punishing amounts of mileage at first and have no doubt that it contributed to my weight loss.
That being said... I was run 30K a week and weighed around 300 lbs when I started.
I am now 228 and still run 30K+ a week.
I am now losing more weight because of exercise and diet combined.0 -

I didn't lose any weight starting running for 4 months, until I started doing longer distances regularly, and watching my food as well. I do find running a very effective way to lose weight, though.0

None at all. I completed c25k last week and didn't lose a single pound until I started tracking my calories and combining the running with weight training. Running will tone you up and make you fitter, but it won't take the weight off.0

This. but when I started I was HUGE. 440lbs. to be exact. there is too many other good healthy factors to not do it.0
