Question / Observation

Ok so I've got a question to the MFP community here.. I am wondering if others have expierenced the following as well ::
I do my weekly weigh in on Monday -- All good and pretty much been trending in the right direction week over week.
However when I (stupidly) step on the scale -- (yes I know NOT to do this.. but my psyche just won't let me pass up the opportunity) at the gym every day or 2 my weight goes up the rest of the week.. so for example.. on Monday I'm at 228.0 .. Yea me.. right.. then the rest of the week I shoot up to 229, 230.8 and now back to 228.6.. but I can almost guarantee that on Monday I'll be down another .5 to full LB..
anyone else see their scale do this type of fluxuation?? I'm starting to think I need to view this stuff like the stock market.. up and down but as long as its trending in the right direction over time I'll get to where I want to be...
Please let me know your thoughts.. and as always I appreciate your time in reading and responding!!!

Mine is the same way ramius. I try not to step on the scale every day but sometimes I can't help it and it stays in the range of a pound but drives me crazy. I don't know how to make myself wait a week. Just so you know I experience the same thing.0

I am the same way, i weigh in on mondays but during the week my weight goes up and i am not sure why.Would be better to stay off the scale but i have trouble doing that too. i am up 2 pounds from monday already, but the diet and exercise have been the same. Not sure what is up with that, but i just keep plugging along0

Water weight can easily have you fluctuate between 5-8 lbs. It is crazy, but I see the same thing happen. Just thing week It was looking like I was maybe going the wrong direction than BAM! 1.6 lbs down. So don't worry about it as long as your week to week is trending the right direction.0

totally normal.. water, waste, etc... don't fret0

I like your comparison to the stock market. That's a good way to look at it. I think everyone has daily fluctuations. I choose to weigh myself only weekly for this reason. Every once in a while I do step on the scale after a couple of days, and yes, I see the same trend.
Overall you are going in the right direction! Keep it up!!0 -
That is typical, the BODY is in control...it uses what it NEEDS - when it Needs it.0

I have fluctuated between 144-148 all week!... I'm gonna take the advice of others and stay off the scale more and buy another tape measure (had one, but my darling children broke it )0

Excellent point on the stock trend. That's pretty much how I treat it. I like to weigh myself a lot. It's fun to see the changes. But I don't log in anything until the measurements hover at a lower number for about a week. Then I use what number I remember seeing most often.0

If I weigh at any point in the day that is not first thing in the morning, I'm guaranteed to be higher than I really am. So if you are weighing yourself at the gym, and then weighing yourself first thing in the morning on Monday, then the gym would be higher because you've already have stuff in your system, water weight, waste, clothes, etc. That's probably why it's different. That's how it is for me, at least.0

Mine does it too. I weigh every day, but only log a loss when I see the same number (or less) 3 days in a row. Then I know it's gone! I know it's going to bounce around a bit on a daily basis, so I just don't let it get me down. If it goes up more than a few pounds I know I need to cut back on the starches and carbs in general for a bit. It works for me.0

Oh meeee too. I really should put the scale in an area that is hard to reach or in a place I don't like going like the basement in the dark or put it under some broccoli.....it gets ne upset when I see it go up- ugh I weigh myself everyday. But as long as every Saturday it goes down..... I'm good lol0
