Thoughts? Good or bad? I have been eating some low sugar varieties lately

They remind me of candy. They weaken my will power. They are not good for me. If they're good for you, I'm happy. :)

Protein shakes work better for me. They provide fluid as well as protein, and I can add as much fluid as I want to make them taste better. (Still haven't found a powder that I like well enough by itself.)

A lot of them are "glorified" candy bars.

I do like some of them, but they just don't fit into my every day diet. I do however, keep a few @ the beach for a quick pre-run breakfast, or take them on trips for a snack.

I like some of the kashi bars. I typically use them if I am in a pinch for time and need some calories- they're more of a filler for calories if I am running low and need something to bridge me to a real meal.

I say try them and see what works for you. Read the nutrition labels, etc. I agree, some of the bars out there are glorified candy bars. Like most anything in life, they can be good, they can be bad.

I totally agree (as I'm eating my last Zone Perfect bar..). I find myself craving them just as I would a regular candy bar and they are killing my sugar intake. I have some IsoPure that I haven't made a dent in, and I'm going to get more of my protein from that from now on (I'm a non-meat eater)

I like the Atkins Endulge. The sugar is only 1g. They are great. You should try them

I'm a firm believer that just about anything is fine in moderation. I had one for breakfast before swimming this morning since I was so tired I was stumbling out the door to the gym. I'd never have them daily... possibly even just because of the cost!

I have eaten Think Thin bars a couple of times for breakfast if no time for anything else. They have 9g protein and 0 sugar (although does have sugar malitol) and had a Luna bar today for lunch because it got busy at work and I couldn't escape so I was glad I had it. So I think they can be convenient and fairly healthy in a pinch. And definitely filling. I feel ok about having them now and then.
