Eat a little bit of what looks good, and log it in the best you can. Enjoy yourself a little bit, it's ok! Everything is so food focused at parties, try to find something else to focus on. Like games or making sure all the kids are having fun.0

I had a birthday party last weekend.
I ate portion control (1 hot dog, tiny bit of pasta salad & a 2x2" piece of cake (that's a birthday cake serving size)) I woke up the next day and gained 1lb....it was all from the sodium though and the next day it was gone.
enjoy just make sure you know what you're eating and how much of it you're eating0 -
tomorrow is my 2 year old's birthday party. i am trying to convince myself to be good because i have been working my butt off (kinda literally ) but I really just want to enjoy myself this weekend between the beef sandwiches, lasagna, birthday cake & then Easter brunch the next morning. I will try to watch my portions but not going to forgo any of my favorite foods either.
Hopefully I won't have to work a bunch harder next week because of it.0 -
I have my sons 1st birthday coming up on May 7th (his actual b-day is on the 5th but we are celebrating it the following saturday) and we are having hot dogs, hamburgers and hot links and guests are supposed to bring a side dish of thier choice. I am taking that special day and having a free day. I am not going to count calories or log. I am just going to enjoy my son and our family and friends. You have to be able to do that ONCE in a while. By that I mean, once a month or have a free meal once a week instead of a whole day. It reduces the risk of compulsively over eating or normalizing that behavior so you lose yourself. Enjoy the day, but if it feels that wrong, eat the healthiest option, small portions of course, and have a sliver of cake. It will not undo all your work and you can take part in what should be a happy day while also retraining your brain to eat as a "normal" person would. AND DRINK TONS OF WATER!!!!!! Hope this one opinion is helpful. Good luck.0

Yea, I think I will just do portion control. I'll try what I know I really want ( like a piece of the tres leches cake) and cut every other portion in 1/2. I'll just put the rest on my husband's plate lol0
