Does anyone else seem to get seriously bored with their food? I have a ton of stuff to eat, but I am bored with it. 27 years of having numeral amounts of horrible options at a hands reach, and now that I am trying to change it to only healthy food.... I AM BORED!

  • Do you usually use extra flavorings? Dressing on salads, loads of salt, sugar in your morning cereal, for examples? If so, cutting back on them so that you can actually taste the real flavor of what you're eating can make it much more interesting and delicious! Good luck!

Yes, and no. I get into stints where I am hooked on a certain food. Then I get into a place where NOTHING looks good at all. I totally feel you there. I was a junk food junkie as well, and it is hard to get into the good food habbit not to mention when good food cost so much more than the junk.

Yeah, I hit a point where I got bored with food, partially because I went on a really strict diet recently thanks to health issues: No gluten, no eggs, no milk, and no caffiene. ((o.O)) ACK.

So I started playing with ethnic foods. Learned how to roll sushi and make a bento box. Discovered the perfect teriyaki recipe. Learned dozens of ways to cook chicken. Tried to figure out what I was craving and see if I could make or find a substitution that was close. And last but not least, if I was "hungry" but nothing sounded good, I learned to ignore it until I was ACTUALLY hungry. (Otherwise, it was just a bad case of munchies.)

But yes, you'll get bored with food... But think of what you were eating before? Wasn't it just as monotonous? Even though it was fattier and saltier and tasted "better", wasn't it just the same things over and over again, too?

Take this as an opportunity to experiment and learn new things. Try to find ways to surprise your palate. Find things that are healthy, but taste oh so good. Or small sinful things to spice up your daily routine. If you don't indulge a little bit, you're setting yourself up for a self-control binge that would be even worse. Having a small square of healthy dark chocolate as a rare treat is totally worth it, especially when it's a reward for doing other, good things.

(By the way, you'd never BELIEVE how delicious dried seaweed can be. Oh, those clever Japanese.)

Right now I am on a 21 day "Daniel" fast. No meat, No sugar, and No bread. I look in my fridge and sigh. I can only handle so many fruits, veggies, and eggs. I am a seriously pickey eater, so yeah it sucks lol

Ooo, yikes, that's a tough one.

How are you with mushrooms? Portobello mushrooms are a GREAT alternative to meat, you can cook them up like steaks, or use them as a meat substitute in stir fry. Stuffed mushrooms are amazingly delicious, and you can use rice instead of bread for the stuffing mix. A little bit of Parmesan, herbs, and chopped veggies and you've got a delicious main dish.

I cant stand mushrooms. If I even think there is a mushroom in my food I feel like I am going to throw up
