Getting past the beginning...

I'm very new and I'm finding it utterly horrible to get past this beginning consta-hungry bit. How long did it take for you guys to start feeling fuller with less? Any tips or tricks for getting past this with my sanity intact?
I have a huge paper to write but I'm too distracted by my grumbling tummy to start working on it....

    To add food without tons of calories go for veggies, spinach a serving is 2 cups of it for under about 100 calories, least the one I use from the database.
    You can also ensure you're getting lots of fiber, fiber makes you feel fuller and keeps you feeling full for longer.

    veggies = bulk & fiber, add some olive oil, salt, pepper and any other spices and roast them in the oven, the olive oil adds to the satiety and staying power. Drink lots of water! LOTS of WATER!

    If you're tummy is seriously growling you should eat something. If you suffer too much you will cave. Try eating smaller meals so you can eat more throughout the day. Then your stomach is never to the point of being completely empty. Like said before ... fiber and protein will keep you feeling more full.

    Fiber baby! I'm eating tons of veggies with lots of fiber and that really seems to be helping.

    I've also done some reading on how insulin works and how sugar cravings keep coming back so I'm also trying to be more conscious of my sugar intake.

    Drink lots of water and if ya gotta snack, try a few nuts or fruit.

    I am only 4 days in and it has been tough for me. Also I am in marketing and can relate that when you have to sit, focus and write is the most challenging to not think of grabbing some food!!!!!!!! What I've been doing is having a big glass of water with every meal and water in between meals too. Also I got some good protein bars (chocolate pb) that are around 200 calories. The chocolate is yummy and the protein keeps me full for awhile. I noticed having eggs or oatmeal for breakfast also helps me stay full a bit longer. Definitely have a snack between all meals! You can do it!

    Honestly? I could never get past that in the beginning! Always caving in, then I started burning more, more cardio, more I could eat! LOL! Yea..I was a pig though so the thought of cutting from 3-4000 calories (blushes...) to just 1380 seemed DRASTIC! Now, I usually just hit my goal, and barely tough my exercise cal unless needed. But yes, eat smaller, more frequently, lots of protein and fiber.

    Lots and lots of fresh/frozen vegies, some sort of protein at every meal and snack, oatmeal instead of toast for breakfast and lots of water. Soon you will find out what foods you can eat a ton of for few calories, go for the quantity! Any pre-packaged or prepared mix kind of stuff have huge amounts of calories and sodium that do you no favors. If you can avoid it, don't go out for meals for a couple weeks until you get the hang of the portions. Good Luck!
