Argh! I love this time of year in many ways, but I can't stand the pollen! I have had a nose bleed for 2 weeks now! Anyone else struggle to exercise with hayfever? I have to take a packet of tissues with me on every run!

Does running in sunglasses help the itchy eyes?

It's tough right now, because the trees and grasses are both causing it in a lot of the country.

Windy days are the worst, because the pollen is constantly in the air. Rainy days are better as long as you aren't allergic to molds.

Sunglasses don't help a lot with keeping pollen out of your eyes unless it's windy out. But it's good to protect your eyes anyway.

There are some OTC allergy eye drops that are pretty decent. There are also prescription drops if you need them.

Allegra just went OTC about a month ago and that's what I use. Zyrtec is also great (and can be found in generic) but it makes me too sleepy.

I use zirtec if I am desperate, but it makes me so drowsy I can hardly function. I fell asleep in my evening meal a couple of weeks ago (I was staying in a lemon plantation and am very allergic to citrus, so had no choice). I have just bought some Loratadine which is supposed to be better but haven't started taking it yet. I never got hayfever living in London!

Darn ya lady! I woke up in the middle of the night with my sinus hurting and a headache, then a runny nose. Fortunately an aspirin did the trick..........this time.

I HAVE FOUND THAT TAKING STINGING NETTLE CAPULES OR TEA REALLY HELPS ME WITH MY ALLERGIES, PLUS NO SIDE EFFECTS!

I am in Australia... not actually sure where your from because I didn't look at your profile, but I use fexotab which is the cheap chemist brand. I prefer it because it doesn't make me drowsy. Perhaps you should try a different brand

:flowerforyou: Sorry, I don't have any tips for you, but I totally commiserate.
Won't bore you w/ the world's longest list, but I am allergic to almost everything and have year-round allergies.

My allergist implied I should live in a bubble! :noway:

I take Clarinex (or Aerius, if I've been visitng folks in Canada, where it is the same thing, but available OTC).

if you like honey, use local honey where possible as it was made using the pollen in the local environment and can help build a natural resistance

I'm in London and my Hayfever is terrible. I really didn't want to take medication but I've had to. I find that the piriton tables really help and they don't make me sleepy. Also beconase nasal spray is a God send

I live in London and I get terrible hayfever! Last night's thunderstorm in my suburb didn't seem to clear the air.

Mine didn't start until I was about 35 for some reason. I take cetirizine which is usually the dead cheap one. I don't get drowsy, but I usually take it just before bed anyway and that seems to work perfectly for me. I forgot last night, woke up with my eyes glued up and sneezing like, umm, what sneezes a lot? A baby panda? The pill and eye drops hadn't kicked in by the time I started running, and I ended up running along with tears streaming down my face!

It could be an age thing. I moved out of London at 29, and my hayfever started the following year. My son now gets it too.

I am using Loratadine, i need to get a nasal spray and eye drops now. If they doesn't work i would advice you to visit a doctor/ nurse who knows a lot in that field. I go to my ashtma nurse & see sorts it out for me
