    I believe they are one in the same...I"ve noticed some companies recently have changed the wording....unsure why. Perhaps a marketing tool to throw us that 'fat free' sign and when some see that...they grab that.

    Skim milk simply has the fat removed from it...thus skimmed milk.

    Perhaps someone else will pop on here and give you a more scientific explanation.

    It's just a matter of how the company chooses to describe it--I have 2 gallons of milk in my fridge right now that are from 2 different companies: one says "skim milk" while the other says ""fat free milk" but they're the same thing.
