30 day shred

Options
So, after reading everybody's posts I was determined to but the 30 day shred by Jullian and though 20 min isn't that bad...I did it yesterday and today can't even walk/sit. Should I take today off or does things get better when I exercise on sore muscles? holly mother of muscle ache! And I thought I am ok as I do Yoga regularly.

Don't worry, it gets better! I'm 12 days into the Shred and getting stronger every time. However, if you're in a lot of pain, don't push it. Lots of people do the Shred every other day, still with good results. You don't want to injure yourself! Even Jillian would agree:

If I can do it, so can you! The first few days really hurt, but then all of a sudden you feel invincible! :)

I went through 30 days last summer...it was great. I had the lowest weight as an adult. I still use it, but not regularly. I find, FOR ME, that if I work through it the next day I am not as sore as if I skip. This past week I have added the shred into my daily cardio in an attempt at 2 a day. Keep working hard!

I do INSANITY now, but before that I was doing the Jillian DVD's and I was sore in the start but kept going and it got easier and better. Soreness is your ways body of telling you it is changing, however if you are really sore where your form would be compromised you may want to take a day off, use lighter weights or do the modified versions of the exercises she offers in her workouts. I personally like to feel a bit sore after working out makes me feel like I worked hard, but too too sore means you may have hurt yourself, listen to your body, it will tell you what you need to know.

Yes!! I did the full 30 days last summer and can't think of why a man couldn't do the workouts. It's basically cardio, strength, abs.

I've been through the Shred and am now doing Ripped in 30. I can't believe the changes in my body from it. It's not a huge calorie burn for me but it gives new meaning to the word toning! I was sore and worked through it. Then was sore in different ways when I changed Levels. I think confusing your body is good...keeps your metabolism revving!

I think the exercises are universal. You just might want to start with heavier weights. I use 5 lb ones, but that might be too light for you.

I did it for the first time yesterday too and I am so sore today that I also can barely sit down. That's not good when you drink as much water I as I do and have to make contant trips to the ladies room :-) I didn't do it again today because I would not have been able to it with any form or intensity. I am going to try it again on Tuesday (Monday is my day off) I did do a moderate bike ride today just so I didn't skip a regular workout day. Good luck. Everyone told me it gets easier quickly but I don't think I can do it everyday for the first few times.

Is there a lot of jumping in the 30 day shred?
My neighbors below me don't like that, but I really want to try it out.

I don't think it's too bad, there are some jumping jacks and jump rope, but I don't jump very high. You can modify the jumping or follow the beginner level where you are not required to get your feet too high off of the ground.
