I want to exercise!!!

I have a hard time taking an "off" day from exercise! Today is the "off" day and I want to do something SO bad! Has anyone else ever experienced it? I'm not hungry, not tired, not ill, but I'm MOTIVATED, and I know my body needs needs a break. I do cardio for 20-30 minutes every morning and then around 4:30 I do more cardio and some kind of toning totaling 70 min of exercise usually so I feel like I'm missing something today. I guess it's a good thing...I mean at least it's not the other way around. Anyone else?

Maybe you should just take a stroll thru the mall and go window shopping or take a leisurely stroll around the block. That way you would be taking it easy, but still sneaking some exercise in.
Then your body would be able to take a rest because you wouldn't be pushing yourself like in a normal workout.0 -
I was like that for a while. I HAD to work out or I was mean.
Sadly, changing one obsession for another isn't healthy either. (Not saying that is your issue.)
I am actually taking time off from working out.
Oddly enough, I am losing weight better.0 -
I've gone through that at times, too. I hate taking days off, although I've gotten more used to it. Sometimes I just let fate force me to take a day off, if I get sick, or my schedule won't allow any exercise on a given day. I have a feeling -- because I'm feeling so good lately -- that I'm going to be in your shoes again soon. I need to break a sweat every day!
I just try to switch my exercises a lot, so that I'm never working the same muscles in the same way two days in a row, so even if I'm not resting, the muscles I worked the day before are getting a rest.0 -
I have been there right with you, if I don't work out then I feel like crap and I know that I need to do something just to move. That is the way I was lastnight, It was my usually cardio night and I had worked out on Monday and thought that I would stay in since it was really cold here and about 7:30pm I was checking mail and thought I need to do something I feel bad for not working out. So I did my first night of my 30 day shred and it totally kicked my butt. But I feel better that I did something.0

Funny you say that, because I saw somewhere else where someone cut back on exercise and lost weight better. Hmm lol, maybe I should slack off some!0 -
I don't take off days. I just take it really easy. Instead of intencity I'll take a nice walk or something. So I feel like I still did something that day.
Your body needs a rest but that doesn't mean you have to lay on the couch all day : )0 -

I am not sure I would qualify it as "slacking off".0 -

Kiddo, you're kickin butt.... you just keep doin what you need to.
When I was training (rather intensely...for a long time)...some recomended just doing more "relaxed" workouts....like yoga, dance, walking, etc. :flowerforyou:0 -

yeah, I feel good when I work out harder, but walking would be a nice alternative as you and others have suggested! As long as my leisure walk doesn't turn into power walking lol! I'm actually happy I feel this way because not long ago, I didn't see the need for exercise! So it's a good thing0 -

Trust me, I am forcing myself to not work out (which is nice since I've done it for 5 years with few breaks). I hope to get back into it though as soon as I've dropped more weight.0 -

I'm sure it is tough for you after doing it that long! It will probably come back to you pretty easy:)0 -

I experienced this a couple of years ago...I was going to the gym or walking daily and lost only 2 pounds in 5 weeks. Then I stopped working out, started eating whatever I wanted (while watching portion sizes) and the pounds came FLYING off-I'm talking about .5-1 pound/day. Now I'm working out and TRYING to eat healthier versions of my favorite food while counting calories, and I'm losing nothing. What gives?? Anyone know?0 -

I had to clean up my diet.
I still eat regular stuff but things that are high fat, carb, etc I still have to keep an eye on.
It's not the funnest, but it's helped.
I REALLY lowered my sodium. I only try to get like1600mg a day (I usually go over) but it keeps the numbers down.
I also cut out soda (except I have some on the weekend).
The way I see it, cut out what you can, but don't cut out what you can't live the rest of your life without.
I can live without chips, most candy, etc. but I can't live without bread, pasta, chocolate...not forever!
Maybe just cleaning house a bit diet wise will help.
Also, you are not TOO far from being goal weight. They all say it gets harder the closer you get.0
